I am looking for some help on locations to go camping with a group of people including a few dogs. Seems pretty Simple right? We are looking in the hill country with spring water (river or lake) I started with campgrounds, but soon moved on because we don't want to be so close to people. Then I looked at hunting leases but that's not it either. Then I looked at Private water fishing and that's more like it but all the lakes are man made and not spring fed. Does anyone know of a place where we could go that will allow us to camp in private, still be on a river and fish?

Look at Corps of Engineers lakes and TPWD lakes. These type campgrounds generally have large spaces. If you get several spaces together you'll have a very large camping area.

Inks Lake State Park is one of my favorites. Lots of lakeside spaces with plenty of room.

Thanks for your input. I looked at inks before and it looks like a great place.

Loc: At the Terrell WalMartz
Liefeste Campground Castelle Tx on the Llano River. I've camped there twice and had the place to myself.

If you have a boat you can camp on some of the islands on lake Buchanan, namely the willows and Garrett.
