My youngest wanted to try out one of the $1.88 telescoping cane poles for some reason. Fine with me, gives me an excuse to hit the water again. So me and both girls headed down to the Cibolo and caught quite a few. She caught two small bass on the cane pole that she is the most proud of. By the end of the trip, she got pretty good at it and could sling it out there like a fly rod. thumb All fish caught on worms and released to fight again. Some pics of the creek and fish they caught.

Headin out

The lightest rio I've seen

A simply outstanding day on the Cibolo. Nothing beats that Mike. Those are pictures of a life time. Good job.

Yeah, that's the smallest rio I've seen too. I was starting to think they hatched big and pugnacious! I love to fish with the cane pole! I don't do it as much as I use to or as much as I want, but when ever I find the right waters, I make sure to return the next time with a couple cane poles. Glad to see yall got out there and had a good time. Excellent pics and excellent report.

Mike, Great pictures and report. That cane pole looks fun. I'm sure she had a blast. Those pictures really show the beauty of that small creek. Urban fishing at it's finest!

She had a blast until she saw what she thought was a turtle head in the water. She has been wanting a turtle for some time now. When we got closer it turns out it was a water snake. Well at least she had already caught most of her fish by then cuz she took off out of there bolt and stayed on the bank from then on out peep. She wasn't afraid to go into another pool but that was it for that one.

Great read. I love pole and whip fishing. Lot of fun doing it that way, the best method there is for panfish.

Congrats on a great day with your daughter, better than Disney world any day.

Ha ha; I bought one of those rods during the 'get rid of them' sale that Academy had, but haven't even unwrapped it from the plastic yet!
I'll have to try it out next time...
