Why do you hate fluro?

This question comes from the other thread about fluro. I was buying the Bass Pro XPS fluro and if the line got even a little kink in it, it would snap with very little pressure and I can't say it helped me catch anymore fish. Going back to original Stren. Did you guys have a problem with it or did you just not like it?

I have had good luck with the xps 14#, but keep in mind I am compairing it to berkley vanish, in witch I had a great deal of problems. I have seen what you are talking about with the kinks ,when I find one I am sure to retie right away . On the other hand I can fish all day long with a kink in my big game and never break. I'm still not so sure about fluro myself,I like the sensitvity and invisability and etc. but not so sure it is woth the price and headache.

The comment about the fluro. being the biggest marketing ploy in history has some serious merit! I guess the pros that pimp it get it free so they can respool all the time. I've never tried the vanish but it sure does have some bad reviews.

it breaks, it's expensive, memory is really bad, and it is pushed like crack cocaine on ghetto street corner.
Braid and mono is where it's at.

I use XPS fluoro 17 and 20 lb on every setup I have besides 3 rods. Most of those setups have line from last year on them still. I went to Fork in march and caught 6's,7's and 8's and one 9 (20+ fish over 3 days) with them and had no problems with line breaking.
I do have one setup with either 12 or 14 XPS on it for my finesse fishing and have no problems there. Wonder why your broke so easy.

If I get a backlash (shhh don't tell anyone that happens occasionally), the line will break evertime right where the kink was at. Most of my problems with it have occured with 14lb xps.

I've tried the Vicious, BPS, Berkley and Stren. All of them have bad memory and break easily in my opinion. I finally went back to my old tried and true....Berkley Big Game.

I hear all these reports of florocarbon having bad memory, I use 12 lb Berkely 100%. I spray it with Line and Lure when I spool it up and occasionally after that and I don't notice the memory problems, it helps reduce backlashes too.

Flouro is for your power Crankenstien. Some say they use it for the added sensitivity, but IMO use braid but then again, I'm a guy that perfers to use a leader on braid. Flouro gets a crank deeper faster and probably even helps its action. So don't be hater, use what YOU need to fish with.

Braid and mono is where it's at. Exactly. Makes pretty good leaders, though, and a spool will last a long time that way.

The ONLY thing I hate about it is the price. When I fish with others that are NOT using flouro, they get out fished at least 5:1. I will always spend the extra $$$ for the line.

Using Fluoro has a learning curve, but is well worth it IMO. I love the sensitivity of it along with its high density that allows it to sink thereby giving you better contact with your bait. You have to try some new knots and religiously wet the knot, being careful to not have the line twist in the middle of a knot. I really like the Shaw Grigsby knot, kind of a double San Diego Jam. It's really easy to tie and is strong. Every type of line has its drawbacks and benefits. Fluoro is no different. For bottom contact fishing, fluoro's my only line. About half my cranking setups have it. For jerkbaits, it's the bomb.

I use XPS when I find it onsale I only buy Vicious Pro Elite now and have been useing it since it came out and will not try anything else. As with any floro you need to spray with conditioner the night before and a few times throughout the day and line memory is gone.

I use fluorocarbon for leaders. In the lakes I fish, you won't get many bites with straight braid. I used Big Game for years, but it stretches way too much.

I have some spools of SEGUAR CARBON PRO and XPS over 5 years old and still like new. With Fireline original(smoke)4lb.+14lb.XPS fluorocarbon leader i caught one red fish 23lb. http://www.fishingworld.com/News/Read.php?ArtID=000010715I never fish without fluorocarbon leader, and no fish broke the leader .I loose some fish because i don't pay attention making the knot on the hook so i don't have nothing against quality fluorocarbon leader ,like SEGUAR CARBON PRO and XPS
