I agree that load rating is the most important. The best bang for the buck I have found on tires and wheels are through Cabelas. Their trailer tires are 8 ply and have an excellent load rating value. You can use any tire with the correct load rating just make sure that it is the correct size and not too wide for your fender.

The bad thing with marapops are the ones not made in USA.

Anyone ever heard of Deestone brand tires? I have a boat trailer with 4.80x12 tires and have had bad luck with carlisle tires getting bubbles on them or dry rotting on the side walls within a year. I was calling around getting prices on 4.80x12 tires and a dealer told me of Deestone brand tires, he said that they are alot better tire than carlisle and are a 6 ply load range c instead of 4 ply load range b like carlisle. Can anyone tell me they're opinions on this brand?

Do not buy Carlisle tires. Junk Junk Junk. I have them on my boat and a trailer at work. All the tires have the same crazy wear pattern, with just a couple thousand miles. Had to replace the ones on the trailer at work with less than three thousand miles on them. If I pulled my boat longer distance it would be the same way.

I'll never own another set of Good Year tires as long as I live. Pure junk (bad experiences with both truck and trailer tires). Same with Carlisle. Life is too short, and tires are too expensive to fiddle around with throwing cords, separating carcasses, out of round, and weak sidewalls.

Check out Southwest Wheel in Dallas. New wheels and tires cheaper than new tires only at DT. I balance 'em and run 'em 5 years,toss 'em,and start over with new tires and wheels. The larger/nicer,the wheel/tire combo,the smaller the savings vs. just tires.

need a 205/75/14, having a hard time locating one that isn't another good year! Had a bad blow out last weekend with a GY Marathon... Tires can't be 2 years old... I am putting the spare tire (tow master) on the normal rim and putting the last GY on the spare rim when I have this blow out replaced... Hard to find a decent tire under 100.00!!!

I have had nothing but blowouts with goodyear marathons....went to carlisles that are cheaper and never had another problem in two years.

The goodyears were only 2-8 months old when blowing out.

I have used Carlisle, Goodyear, Maxxis and a few others. They all will blow out if the conditions are right. I currently have to replace my Maxxis tires because both sides have separated belts. It's hard to say why, they are always at the specified pressure and I don't run over curbs. They do sit however, and the trailer uses leaf springs on a single axle.

I've replaced several tires over the past 10 years as trailer tires never last more than about 3 years for me.

I give up on regular trailer tires years ago and started using passenger car tires which eliminated all problems.

And another GY bites the dust... Next trip out... Just replaced the first tire with a Tow Master from NTB for about 120... Guess I will be buying another! YAY!

Exactly the opposite for me. I ran a couple of sets of car radials and had nothing but problems. Since I have gone back to Carlisle bias ply I have never had a blow out. I keep them at 50+ lbs. and believe that is key. Anything less and the outside tread starts to wear.

I bought a set of Carlisle bias-plys about 9 months ago, after both of my Carlisle Radials threw their tread....

Everyone says to run these at 50psi, but on the tire it says their max is 32. They have terrible wear on the outside edge, pretty much completely bald now. Should I have been running these at 50psi despite the max rating marked on the tire, or did Discount Tire sell us the wrong tires?

I need to go get new tires before the next tournament.

I have Goodyear Marathons on my Rangertrail and just hate them!! I have had at least 3 blowouts in the past few years but can't seem to find any trailer tire that is suppose to be any better. If another one blows out, I will definitely get something different!!
