I know this topic is old but just for an update the city of burleson does say is stocks "lake" bailey. and I know for a fact the city of burleson bought $300 worth fish from the fish truck that comes to the 731 farm store.

I'm glad this thread got resurected today or I wouldn't have ever seen it.

From what I understand there are bream and catfish. I've spoken to several people there who have reported catching them. Nothing big so far but if you want to wet a line they're there.

I asked my grandfather (Jim Bailey, the lake's namesake, 18-year former city councilman, civic leader) awhile back about it and he said then the city's plan was to stock it.

Probably some lake caught fish released in there to.

I used to pull small catfish from the creek running through the old community center (now the sports complex near the lake, was Chisenhall Park) years ago but it's been awhile and I think all the new construction screwed the creek up.

Yes the creek in the new sports complex is pretty messed up...some trees have fallen into the water making fishing very hard.

i caught a 3# LMB out of the pond behind bailey lake and lots of catfish as well none very big.

Do you mean the one on the south side of Hidden Creek Parkway?

I wonder if there's anything good in the creek on the golf course side. When I play (i.e. search for my ball) I always notice that it seems to hold a decent amount of water and has some pretty fishy looking areas.

In all my time running around there when I was younger I never fished it.

The creek that runs behind the sports complex is the same creek that runs along side bailey lake and keeps going beside the golf course all the way to lake arlington....the creek is pretty good for bass...were it is deep enough to fish for them.

there are huge carp throughout the creek...very easy to spot them.

so ya it is a pretty fishy area thumb

good luck.

O and i just got back from bailey lake caught one bass out of the back pond about 2#....it was the strangest shaped bass i have ever seen it had a huge hump back...when i looked in his mouth saw a huge plastic worm in there with the hook deep in him...cut off the worm but couldn't get the hook.

fished for cats as well....not so much as a bite.

I've been looking to fish more but all my usual places are so far away I have to devote a whole day or two away, which is hard with a 10-month old and the wife working too. I'm gonna start hitting these close areas just to get my fix for when I can't take the long trips.

I love this stage with my daughter but I also can't wait 'till she's old enough to come with me.

Catfishing has been pretty good with desfisher. The word and around the pond about bass has been poor, although I have seen a couple of small ones come out. The creek behind the pond was okay, I landed a couple of sunfish a cat and a three pound carp! stranges thing i have never caught a carp on any kind of plastic!, but there are some big ones out there. Back to the big pond, the cats have worked very well on chicken livers and are good size some are small. I actually got shown up by a little kid he pulled in 8 pounder. The back pond has been over fished i have been out everyweekend for the past three weeks and noone has pulled anything out. I do belive that the pond behind the soccer feilds is private property. There is a third pond back behind the bigen and I pulled at lest 50 good size sun fish out the other day. Sorry about all the rambeling!!!

Good Luck!

Pulled four LMB from the little pond behind the main tank in about 45 minutes-1 hour. Three were right at 10-inches and the last was 12-inches. First two were caught on a little white crankbait and the last two were caught on a Roadrunner (red jighead, dark green body, and yellow tail).

Some folks were pulling bream from the main tank.

This was last Monday.

The Asst. City manager showed me a picture of a fish that a resident brought in to City Hall a few months ago. He said that he caught it in Bailey Lake. It looked like a Piranha. They sent pics to the Fort Worth Zoo and they said it was a close relative. Equally scary teeth though. Seems someone did not want it as a pet anymore and released it into the lake.
