I have a 10' Jon boat that I am wanting to take up to the grasslands. Has anyone ever had any luck up there or will I be wasting my time and is it very crowed up there?

Thanks in advance,
Jordan

Grew hotbeds fishing out of my 8 ft water spider

Great lakes with a good bass population Although I really enjoyed it 20 years ago when they didn't have all the maps and signs to get to the areas

Do I need to have my boat registered to fish up there?

I live near them but haven't been in a few years. Yes I used to catch dish up there. A buddy of mine has pics from a few years prior of a guy who caught either a 8 and 9 or 9 and 10 lber the same day. Another guy I fish with caught a 8 lber as well. The two came out of black creek and the other came out of clear lake.

Hey Bud,
I started fishing up their at the end of last summer. I had good luck at clear lake but nothing of size. Big fish probably went in the 3-4 lb. range, but a whole lot in the 1lb range. I use a 12' otter stealth boat with a trolling motor works perfect up there. As for your jon boat if you use a motor electric or gas it has to be registered. If you are paddling, or polling no registration is required on boats under 14' in length. Best of luck

Yes you can catch bass on all the lakes there. I have fished and hunted there for around 30 years. Back in the 80's Blackcreek in the creek channel would produce 6lb'ers all day. Not so much anymore. In the early 90's it was Cottonwood and Dans pond. Late 90's Clear Lake was on fire. You can still catch 10lb'ers out of Clear Lake but you have to know where to fish and they are real slow to bite. All the lakes and ponds are lower now than I have ever seen them. If we don't get rain, they are going to be in real bad shape by the end of summer. Go fish them. Even if you only catch small fish, you will catch a bunch. Weightless watermelon fluke and scum frogs works really well in the grass. Good luck.
