If you know of places you can drive up, park, set your gear up and fish, please post em here. I sometimes bring 6 rods, a ton of bait, etc, so this can really influence where I'm going to fish. lol.. Thanks!

Here's one of my favs:

Scotts Landing @ Grapevine Lake

Dirt trails @ Marine Creek Reservoir. - You can fish from the bed of your truck if you'd like. 4x4 recommended. Difficult lake to fish though.

I've caught some nice fish over here through the years. There's a hill where you can drive down and not be seen. wink

cannon9, copy and paste these coordinates in google maps:

32°49'31.11"N , 97°24'5.56"W

The best place to enter is just as you turn on Huffines Blvd. going north, there is an opening on the right about 100 yards up the road. You'll see the tracks. You can see most of the trails lead down to the lake. There is a number of places you can pull up next to the water. Hope this helped. Good luck.

Now that's spring's in full gear heading into summer, any more locations? The thread is about places you can pretty much drive right up to and fish, with minimal (or none!) walking to the bank to fish. smile

I don't know the street or what the building is called, but on White Rock Lake, there is an old looking white fish/boat house and right in front is the parking lot. You can fish off the corner of the building and park about 10-15ft away. wink

Ray Hubbard, Miller road just east of Kirby road in Rowlett. Good kitty fishing off the rocks this time of year. Plenty of parking at several spots on both sides of the bridge, and a nice city park right on the water just past it with good spots also.

Emma Long Park in Austin has some camping in the utility sites that are right on the water.
A couple of spots on Lady Bird Lake in Austin have nearby (<100') parking.
Some of the marinas on Lake Houston have spots that you can park within 20 ft of the water (Lake Houston Marina, Ponderosa Marina).
Much of the beach area on Galveston Island and along the Blue Water Highway (Surfside to Galv. Is) is open to car/truck traffic (I recommend 4wd).

I have been to this pond and yes you can drive down and fish but I for one have not got any good fish so far.
I will say you will find a guy on the lake in a small floating device that fish it allot and he will tell you that some fish can be found in this pond.
Just not by me.

Reading this thread makes me wish I was in the Dallas area... anyone got any San Antonio-ish spots? I've had a heck of a time trying to find good spots that aren't overcrowded.

BUMP! This thread needs some updatin....I only got one and it's cleburne state park not pat cleburne lake. I haven't had great fishing here but I just started fishing it in December caught a few channels around 6# on beef liver and that's it....got two carp runs on some method but fail to set the hook.
But the park is very nice, really cool hiking trails and all kinds of stuff.

It is 5 dollars a person which is why I only really go if it is a really windy day...the whole lake is in a bowl of rock and thick forest so wind protection is great for this lake.

hmm well im new to the area so im stil trying to find some good fishing spots. but if you ever go to ohio look up a pay lake by the name of Isabella that be lake isabella i been going there since i was 6 its a major catfish lake its resonable prices last time i was there it was 10 bucks fer a 24 hour fishing pass. they got some pretty big cats in there i believe itwas just this past summer somebody caught a 98 pound blue cat tat no one new was in there. te only thing about that, that bugs me is the fact that was caught a couple days after somthin took my pole in. that night sme folks fishin not far from me had something break there pole in half a hour after that somethin yank my pole out of its holder and it was gone. It bent a solid steel rod holder in point 2seconds, there was no warning no nibbles on the bait he just took itan ran... Why?

You may be talking about the run-off pond on the west side of I-35 just south of the bridge? If so, you can catch some cats there, but don't eat them. I've heard they aren't good for consumption coming outta there.

havent tried this spot in years but there was a nice pond right off the 35e Southbound sevice road south of 121 at 35e

when coming down the service road, look for the huge billboard just before Hank Haney golf place. take the turn-off to get to
the billboard and down the little hill, is a pond. caught some crappie, blugill and bass out of there.
