Not trying to be a smart arse, but are you sure he ate ALL the fish. How many and how big were the bass ya'll put in there. Also how deep is this tank.

If you're sure he's alone, a 1/4 stick of dynamite will make his presence known. A lot of folks joke about it, but it'll make whatever's in the pond float to the top. If you're not sure though, this is not an option! Best way to get that flathead would be to free-line a 4"-8" live bluegill or other panfish. If that doesn't get him, nothing will. Hope this helps. Let us know what happens.

If the fish are gone, they are gone. I have a hard time believing one ten pound opp at every fish in the pond. My parents have lost all the catfish in one of there ponds on two occasions, both were the results of otters. They came in at night in the winter and ate ever catfish in the pond. Some of which were pushing 9 lbs. If the pond is anywhere close to a river or creek, otters would be my guess as to why the fish are gone.
Yes you can trust the Government, just ask the Indians.

the fish that were in there didnt have any size, the buggest prolly a pound & a half... the tanks prolly 12 ft deep?
haha dynamite would prolly work but we dont have any layin around... i think ill just use some live bait durin turkey season to catch him & if i dont get him then we'll assume hes long gone!
the pond isnt near any creeks or rivers or lakes.

Maybe establish a good population of perch 1st. Then stock with other fish of your choice. That way the cat will eat (or at least mainly eat) the perch rather than the other fish you stock. ??? Just a thought.

It would have to be a very, very small pond in order for one catfish to clean it out. If he cleaned it out he would have now died of starvation. Think about it.

Yes sir , the ops are the top of the food chain in any pond they are stocked in. They can and do clean out everything that swims in the pond. Unless someone caught it, its probably still there nailing wnatever it can from frogs, to tadpoles, to crawfish, to whatever it can get in its mouth.
Before re-stocking, I think I would spend at least one afternoon floating live small bluegill under a cork...if its there, you will know it.

I'm not sure if you're open to the option of chemicals in your pond, but I can remember as a kid, my uncle using a chemical by the name of Rotenone to clean out one of his ponds. Seems like it took effect pretty quick, bringing all of the fish to the top of the water where he used a dip net to just scoop them up. Here's a link so you can check it out and determine if this is something that would be right for you. Good Luck! http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publications/pwdpubs/media/pwd_br_t3200_77.pdf
