Does anyone know why some lakes are on the TP&W reports and some others aren't? like lake Waco for example. How would you go about trying to get it included? I live close to Lake Waco and it would be nice to get water temp, fishing report ect.

I have no idea how their reporting is done. I would think there is a responsible party that does the report for each lake each week. Some have all kinds of information, some don't. The one for Houston County lake for example, is done in the same basic format every week.
Call TPWD and ask them. Maybe you can find a way to get it included.
I wish each report was required to have a current water level. The water level website I look at (Real Time Reservoir Information thru the TWDB) does not include numerous lakes. Namely Fayette, Gibbons, and Bastrop.

I don't have a lot of confidence in the TP&W fishing reports. For one they are too general and vague, secondly they use the same reports weekend to weekout for the majority of lakes and bays in and around Texas. It appears they only change the dates on their fishing reports weekly.
If anyone should be able to give a half accurate fishing report it should be the TP&W.

I gave up on reading published fishing reports years ago when I found this web site.
If you want accurate lake level infor and reports just post a question here and you'll get more accurate information than reading a two weeks old or more published report.
Just one more cast!

"Bass fishing is fair from 2'-50' on topwaters, crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and soft plastics."
They are a joke.

Probably one of the biggest wastes of time the one could do is to take the time to read those reports.

I know on Lake Buchanan the reports are a joke. I don't think it has changed in over 3 months.

In defense of the TP&WD, most likely, they're giving the best reports they can within the time constaints of their daily duties.
I've worked for a State Wildlife Agency and I know the rigors of the job. Honestly guys, it's not all fun and games.
Most every individual is overworked and underpaid, but they try.
just something to keep in mind, please.

TPWD fishing reports are compiled and edited by J.P. Greeson, Bink Grimes, Kendal Hemphill and Karen Taylor for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department under a federal grant provided by the Sport Fish Restoration Program.
To add a lake, contact J.P. Greeson ( the same guy who owns this forum.). The source material comes from persons close to the lake. They are optimistic usually because they want people to come to the lake. The lures are what someone told the writer he used. It is hard to come up with an interesting report each week. They are delayed about 2 weeks by the editorial process. Greeson's company prepares a file which is sent to TPWD. The webmaster lady then posts the report.

Are you serious that they are delayed two weeks? I would hope that the water level and temp were at least current.

I think you are right about most of the working level. My beef with TPWD is with the people who make policy. They just never seem to get it right.

Love their black bass report for Braunig and Calaveres Lakes here south of San Antonio... Pretty positive the tilapia have destroyed MOST of the bass in those lakes, but the report shows black bass good on yada yada yada... Please...
