Don't apologize to me, it's the guy who wanted to take his kid fishing and would like to know a little more about crappie rigs.

You are right Brad. I stand convicted. FS0897 please forgive me if I stepped out of line. I would use Chartreuse jigs in a creek if it was me since no one answered that question.

Bobcat1, posted some pretty good photos of the rig. It is basically a heavy weight below a hook.

This is my favorite rig for crappie fishing. I rig it to a swivel attached to my main line. Then attach the hook and leader to the swivel. The leader and hook are the same size as you buy when you get a pack of pre-tied aberdeens. I then tie a leader to a weight and attach it to the swivel. I run my weight about 8-12" below my hook. There are many variations or ways you could tie this rig. I use a 1oz. weights.

I would recommend using minnows with the Kentucky rig. As for jig color the darker the water the darker color jig and the lighter the water the lighter colored jigs. For lighter water, white/chart are good colors. Darker water try black/pink, black/chart, black/orange, orange.

Hope this helps. Good luck and good fishing!
