Nice set up! I have a question. How did you attach the wheels? Is there an axle through the bottom of the 90s? How did you figure the length? Thanks.

I attached the wheels using a 5/8" steel rod as an axle. I have fender washers on both the inside and outside of the wheel. I drilled a hole the diameter of the cotter pin I used on the outside of the wheel. I figured length by building the frame first the width of the two grooves in the bottom of my kayak. I then pushed the steel rod through the frame and he wheels with the washers in place and marked it where I needd to drill the holes, and the length I needed to cut it. I then cut to length using my dremel tool. I don't have a grinder with a cutoff wheel so this worked for me. In picture one and two you can see the washers and the cotter pin.

How much does your kayak weigh? that looks like a great design for my brothers tsunami 125.

Heres the one I built, nice and light aluminum. It handles a heavey WS ride quite well, where PVC would not work.

i do believe he stood inside the kayak while it was on the cart and it held up just fine, not sure but I think he weighs more than a ride without ever even seeing him. I know my WS ride isnt that heavy

If it ain't broke, fix it till it is.

so true h4rdcore. My kayak weighs 52 lbs, however, with all my gear probably closer to 110. I weigh 180. My wife did pull the kayak around the driveway with me standing in it. I am thinking it will hold up to what i plan on using it for.

how much does one of those little wagons cost? would have to walk it back to the truck though i guess, would be a real quick mod to make it work

You cant build this. You're over eight years old.

Thanks for the inspiration! I have made three carts so far but wasn't satisfied with any of them. I saw a design similar to yours and made this version. The only difference is the ropes not only hold it to the kayak but they also hold the top PCV pipes together. The pool noodles are a great addition to keep it from sliding around.

Here is the best idea I've seen yet for a cart and storage crate. It's not my design but I'm gonna make one real soon!
