I have an 84 140 Johnson that had a ring stuck and broke off. Looking at compression of 100-100-80-0. Wanting to do a rebuild, pistons, rings, bearing, water impeller... Do you have a guess, without looking at it, on what this might cost?
Also considered a reman powerhead.

Where are you located. I live in Denton TX and have a 175 Mariner that is giving me some problems. It starts and runs fine then it will lose power like it is starving for fuel. Eventually it will cleanup and take off again. I had it looked into and they found the fuel line hose had deteriated. They replaced all that along with the fuel filter but it is still doing the same thing. Compression is fine and engine is strong.

Dennis finished up my 1986 Mercury project today. Couldn't ask for a more knowledgeable mechanic to work on these older engines. Friendly, courteous, and professional...I would highly recommend him.
