I am looking at a 2004 ProCraft 210 Super Pro that is in mint condition. Its mated with a Merc Racing 250XS that has 60 hours on it. The boat is immaculate. Seems years ago I used to see lots of ProCrafts but you dont see very many of them anymore. Are they good boats and what should a guy look for as far as past issues with em. Thanks.

Don't know of any past issues on them, but I have an 87 Procraft that is great. The 200 Johnson....not so much right now. frown That 250 Racing Merc is a good motor, but do your homework and get it checked out thoroughly and TAKE A TEST DRIVE!! OR you'll end up like me and my motor. frown

Built in the same facility as Nitros, different hull, but same builders. You'll get a lot of opinions that your procraft is great, but a nitro is garbage...funny they are exactly the same build.

So the 2004 Procraft hull is identical to the Nitro's?

Different hull design, but built in the same place by the same people. Mid level hull, no bad flaws. Ride in it and see if you like it, and have a pro check out the motor.

Our local BassCat took one in trade a couple of years ago with a 250 Verado on it, and may still have it as no one seems to want it. One of our club members used it in a tournament while his was in the shop and it got nicknamed "Procrap"...

Just Sayin...

Here is the boat I was speaking of:

It's an ok... (and I emphasize ok) boat. My dad used to have an 20 ft. Astro (same thing as a procraft but with different branding) and it wasn't a very good ride. I wouldn't buy one again, especially with so many great hulls/boats out there right now.

I've got a 2004 Procraft Pro185DC and I like it. It is very stable and handles the rough water well - of course "handling" is as others point out mostly dependent upon your skills and experience.

Overall though, no issues with its build and I have been accessorizing mine to fit my likes. That boat with a good motor should serve you well. fish

Have information for anyone not already familiar with older aged Procrafts as I am a former owner.

Mine (a''94 dual console bass boat) unknowingly to me developed over the years an already known about chemical breakdown in the Procraft foam material (becomes a sponge)_and self-destructed on Amistad and was thendeclared 'totaled' by my insurance. Luckily I survived and the boat did not sink beforeI got her to the ramp.

I loved mine up until the day it failed and not until we opened up the interior layers to see why the boat support structure broke up, did we ever suspect such a serious problem as the boat looked almost new.

Wow!! Was it just the 90's models or did it go even older? The reason I ask is I have an '87 Procraft 19 1/2 ft.

Don't know myself which exact years are affected other than what the boat fiberglass/salvage folks told me having seen Proraftswith foam break-downs causing boat failures before mine.

Only hint we had, was that we noticed that the boat seemed to weigh more than usual if recently we had been rained on or if we had taken on much water crossing big waves. And on opening the drain plug after getting home, the trapped water in the bilge would 1st drain normally in under a minute, but would strangely drip steadily for a day or even days more. The deteriorating old foam must have become water saturated and weighed much more than when it was newer and waterproof.

Mine doesn't do that that I've noticed. I have bigger problems now with the 200 hp Johnson. frown

I'm sure they have changed, but back in the late 70's I was on Texoma, fishing for strippers in about 5' waves. A procraft comes haulin [censored] into the area, stopped and about the time the driver got to the frontof the boat, a wave come over the back, the boat disappeared in less than a minute, finally the nose came back up and was bobbin up and down like a cork. Weirdest thing I ever saw

I am not familiar with the newer models but the older ones were not known for their quality. I suggest you talk to some people at fiberglass repair shops. That is what I did after having 2 boats that developed structural problems.

So would you guys take a 2003 TR-21 over the 2004 ProCraft?
