Dadgummit..If you haven't been to Denton Creek let me warn you that there will be no fish comming up from Grapevine Lake to spawn. I guess it's the Gas Drillers who have built a temporary dam about 400 yards East of 377 that completely shuts down the Creek. They are also pumping water out of the giant hole they dug in the creek bottom and dumping it downstream which has that water all clouded up too. I thought the fish might congregate below the dam but not with the water all stirred up like that. Progress 1 Fisherman 0

Dam that suxxxx... Denton creek run is good times too. Looks like we're gonna have to find em' in the lower half of the creek. I wonder how much it is going to effect the spawning.

It may affect the spawn a little bit. However, keep in mind that a significant portion of those fish also spawn in the main lake.

They dammed the creek and are pumping water from one side to the other? I'm a bit confused. I'll try and check it out this weekend, but if you have any pics, I'd love to see them.

I am very familiar with gas sites and activities, and from what you desccribed, they could be using the dam and hole to pump water out for fracking purposes. But that doesn't explain the turbid water, since they would only be taking out of and damn sure better not be draining back in.

The main feeder creek for Grapevine Lake is Denton Creek. In runs NW from the lake, under 377, west under I35W to Justin and beyond. Marshal Creek is a small silted in creek that is just west if the party beach where the main creek meets the lake. For many years the city if Trophy Club operated a park that adjoins Denton Creek called Marshall Creek Park. The park was actually named for the now defunct community of Marshall Creek which was located on the land that the park sits. The city renamed the park Trophy Club Park a few years ago.

It is hard for me to believe that the corporation if engineers would allow the damming if the creek for the purposes of drilling a gas well. This has got major flood control implications.

That's no good, that's one of my sons favorite places to fish. Anyone know how long it will be there?

Who signed off on this project? Was there an opportunity for the public to have a say so in the matter? Who is getting a little richer at our expence? I want a news crew to get down there and all the regular users (You and me) have a right to an explanation. This isn't China. Our community leaders stll answer to the voting booth. I suspect greed more than progress is at work here.
