I mounted my 798 up front and just used the transducer that came with it on the trolling motor. It seems to work just fine but am now wondering if that transducer is ok to use on the trolling motor.

Thanks

If it works OK, be glad that it does. What mount did you use?

Thsnks Wayne. Yes it seems to work OK but since I'm new to Hummingbird SI not sure if there was a better transducer to use instead. I bought the mounting hardware from Hummingbird and since the skeg on my trolling motor is in front of the transducer it should help to keep if from getting broke.

I first had the puck style SI transducer but got interference from the trolling motor with it.
Now I use the HDSI transducer and that took care of it.
Some, including me, see sharper images with the larger size transducer but some don't.
I use the Transducer Shield and Saver for the mount.

Thanks again Wayne. For now I will keep the transducer that I have just wanted to make sure it was the correct one to use.

When you break off that one, you can get the one designed for trolling motor use. The new versions have internal shielding.

Not Wayne, but I believe Wayne may have posted the wrong pic. He has the other transducer pic. in another thread in this section.

The two transducers are what I had when I first set the boat up. The round one was for a Matrix 97 and the rectangular one is for the 798 when I used that on the bow.
I only have one on the motor now and that is the HDSI transducer.

I posted the dual picture so you would know that the trolling motor Compact SI transducer looked like. XTM 9 SI 180 T
