Just an FYI.
If you fish Oklahoma much or plan to in coming years. Or think your kids will. Oklahoma currently has a non resident fishing license. But it goes away forever as of December 31st.

Cost is only $275. This is a bargain. Consider the Texas Lifetime Fishing license costs us $1000. After the 1st of the year Oklahoma will no longer offer this license and the regular Oklahoma non resident yearly fishing license will go up to $55.

Page 4 is where it says it is no longer available as of Jan 1st 2011
http://www.wildlifedepartment.com/regs/2011fishguide.pdf

But it is still available till Dec 31st by mail or by phone.

I bought them for the rest of my family as we do camp and fish in OK every year, not to mention kayaking on the Red which is considered entirely in Oklahoma except for the section just below Denison.

Is it true that if you were born before September 1,1930 that in Texas you are not required to be licensed and that both Oklahoma and Louisana honors this also ?

Easy to find since I posted the link with my post. Oklahoma it is age 65.
- Nonresidents 65 years-of-age or older who reside in
Texas are exempt from the purchase of a fishing license.

Other states I don't know.

Non-Resident Fishing Licenses

Required of all non-residents who fish in the public waters of Texas. Licenses/Packages are not required if you are a:

non-resident under 17 years of age;
Louisiana resident 65 years of age or older who possesses a valid Louisiana Recreational Fishing License (includes Senior Fish/Hunt License); or
Oklahoma resident 64 years of age or older.

Here is Louisiana

http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/licenses/exceptions-and-exemptions
Texas Reciprocal

Louisiana seniors, 65 years of age and older, are not required to purchase a non-resident license to fish in all public waters in Texas. These anglers will be allowed to fish Texas water bodies with a Louisiana Senior fishing license but shall comply with Texas law.

Senior anglers are advised that anglers turning 60 before June 1, 2000 are also required to possess a Louisiana Senior fishing license when fishing in Texas, except in border waters. Louisiana residents from 17 to 64 years of age will still be required to purchase a non-resident fishing license when fishing in Texas, except when fishing in border waters.

In all border waters, except the Gulf of Mexico, Texas and Louisiana anglers possessing the necessary resident licenses, or those exempted from resident licenses for their state, are allowed to fish the border waters of Louisiana and Texas without purchasing non-resident licenses. Border waters include Caddo Lake, Toledo Bend Reservoir, the Sabine River and Sabine Lake.

Louisiana is also allowing Texas senior residents 65 years of age and older, to fish throughout Louisianas public waters if they possess any type valid Special Texas Resident licenses for seniors as issued by Texas Parks and Wildlife, any type of water, saltwater or freshwater. Even Texas residents born before September 1, 1930 must possess the Texas Special Resident Fishing license when fishing in Louisiana, except in border waters.

We did ours by mail, but this late your only option is to call. They do not sell the non resident lifetime online.

I figure it'll pay for it's self in 5 years & fish 2 years for free then if they do away with that 65 year old rule I'll still be set for life. win win if you ask me

I think you can take it to the bank that OK will raise that non resident fishing license at least once over the next 5 years too.

That Stinks..
I'm really getting upset with Oklahoma fisheries...I grew up living next door (he lived behind us) to the Chief of Fisheries (really nice guy, but he retired 5+ years ago).

Last year they got rid of the temporary or 5 days license...
So you have to purchase a yearly license...
They 'revamped' the trout stamp, basically getting rid of it for State residents, and planning to use the increase in fees for the non-resident licenses to pay for their trout program.

I'm never going to fish in Oklahoma again.., which is going to be really difficult since my parents now live on a lake.

I wonder if my Texoma license fees are also going to increase? I don't know this for certain, but I was informed that the fees for this license, even if purchased in Texas, go to Oklahoma.
