Is this lake still open to the general public?

Timpson is open to the public but from what I have heard the only boat ramp to it is closed because of low water. I would want to check that out before driving over there.

I have not been able to get any info on Timpson but I did talk to a nice guy over at Pinkston. He said that Pinkston is about 5 feet low and the west "ramp" is unusable. Murvaul is about 2 feet low also.
Thanks!

Lake Timpson is 5-6 ft. low. The boat ramp is closed, you can walk out to the end of it. They have it roped off. If you have a small boat, canoe. jon boat etc. you can drag it out to the edge of the water. They pulled the water out of it cause they found giant salvinia in the upper end. TP&W suggested to lower it and try to kill it out. Hope it works. I been wanting to go fishing up there but haven't yet. Let me know how you do if you go.

If we don't get any rain it's gonna be tough to fish. I need to take my canoe up there. I don't think you can even get in the upper creeks even with a canoe. It's been down since Oct. Fish shouldn't be hard to find up there.

Lake Timpson, as in Teniha, Timpson, BoBo, and Blair? My Mother and Brother were born in Timpson. Sorry to get off the subject.

I grew up there fishing in the summer months with my grandmother in the late 60's and 70's. What a great lake! Man, this thread brings back memories. We targeted the catfish mainly on trotlines at night but we always had a blast in the spring on black bass. She had one of the first houses on the lake that looked right at the island. The person who bought her house has two 11 pounders hanging on his wall that look almost identical when I took a trip back to the lake a few years back.

Like I say, you can only launch from the bank. The ramp is closed and roped off. You'll have to drag your small boat down to the water. I used to be lake president of the lake, so I try to keep tabs on it.

Do you have any idea on when the ramp will be open again?

Until we get a ton of rain. A good 6-8 inch rain should open it back up!

Lake Timpson is back in business now. The ramp is open and with all the rain we've had the lake can't be more than a couple feet low now. I was out there last weekend but didn't stay long cause of the wind. The stumps behind the island were in 8-10 ft of water compared to 1 foot last summer.

I've seen pics (and one wall mount) of 10 lbers taken out of it but they are 15-20 years old. Largest I've stuck in it was 6.5 lbs.

Ya'll quit talking about Lake Timpson, I'm getting home sick. This is truly a hidden jewel. I fish it a bunch when I am home.
