How much do ya tip a guide? I recently won a 1/2 day fishing trip and never been on a guided fishing trip before. I'm really lookin' forward to it. Thoughts?
Don't look at the glass as half full or half empty. Look at it as a normal portion of water in a container that's too big. <'))))<

Most people tip about $50 unless it's a big trip then it's usually more. Some people don't tip at all, even on very successful trips. It's not expected but it is certainly appreciated. Just tip how you feel, your guide will thank you for it. A tip is the last thing I'm thinking about on the trip and the last thing I remember when you leave. Again it's never expected but it sure makes me feel like you had a good time when I get one.

I tip 20% +
Last trip guide was $400 for the day for 2.
We had a fairly good day and we tipped $100 or $50 each.
The difference between men & boys is the price of their toys.

tip what it would have cost you...unless it's an awful guide, then you got your moneys worth driving to the lake.
report back if you have nice things to say, and if you don't then say you had a bad trip with unnamed guide and send pm's when suggested.

I usually wait for them to nod off then I sneak up on them and give a good heave right under that big belly. Over they go.

I go on a company trip to fork every year, since there is no cash directly out of my pocket I tip my guide 100 bucks if he is good or works hard to put us on fish. We don't necessarily have to catch a lot just have to see that he is trying to put us on them to the best of his abilities and circumstances. It's a win win for both he gets paid and gets a sweet tip and I get to fish and feel good about tipping him

If you won the trip as it was donated by the guide himself? It would be very nice to tip 50% of their minimum rate just to cover expenses.
If it was a trip that someone paid the guide for and auctioned, had a drawing for or was won as a some other way. Tip whatever you feel is deserved or none at all. The guide was compensated.

how come a guide doesn't charge the rate he would like to make? would not need to worry if your tip is proper that way.

I check on the guides I use before I hire em so I know they are good. Now the fish don't always cooperate but that's why they call it fishing and not catchin. I'm lookin more for an educational, fun trip and catchin always puts the trip over the top! I expect the guide to have good equipment and a clean boat for my client's enjoyment.
Our trips usually have 5 people so the guide has a lot to do. For this, i usually tip an extra $125 to $150 and I give the tip and fee to the guide before we git in the boat. Always been a great motivator for the guide and I ain't been disappointed yet!

Agreed. I recently won a donated hunt in a raffle and killed a deer so I tipped the ranch and guide much more than I would normally.
