OK I can make a trip to Turner Falls for trout quicker than Broken Bow, any suggestions for what to take, gonna try with my fly rod but will take my light weight spinning gear as well for back up.
Suggestions on flys as well as bait or spinners.

Thanks

I always start with a generic nymph pattern like a haresear, woolyworm, etc. If you see them rising, try a dry fly. Match the hatch.
As for spinning gear, it's hard to beat a 0 or 1 mepps or panther martin. Darker colors on cloudy days, brighter on sunny.

Cool thanks for the advice, we may try to run up Thanksgiving, that way no one see my pitiful fly casting skills

Well we went to Turner Falls today, ask the wife if she wanted to try for crappie or trout, trout won, we got there about 2 o'clock and started fishing second cast caught my first one.

Shortly after my wife caught her first.

Fished for 3 hours and caught probably 30 fish, all were caught on powerbait and panther martins. Kept our 10.

Will def be going back soon with my fly rod to catch some on the fly.
Here is one on the pools loaded with trout.

90% of the trout we caught were in the 10-11 inch range. But as you can see by my first there were also some smaller ones caught as well.

Nice fish.

If you walk back under the waterfall, instead of fishing the ponds freshly stocked, you can find some much bigger fish.

Once it gets too hot for most of the fish to survive, or most of them have been caught out, directly under the big waterfall, in that really deep pool, the fish can survive the summer, and they get a lot bigger.

At least, I saw some much bigger trout jumping around the area of the waterfall in the warmer months before.

Good to know, we never made it all the way to the falls, started fishing at the first pool past the first water crossing, then went up to the deep pool across from the castle and never made it any farther, good trip overall and will be going back with the fly rod and spinning reel just as back up.

It was a great short trip for me and the wife. Had a blast, just wish we could have talked my 14 yr old son into going as well. We will be making day trips up there from time to time and may also try the Blue River once our skill level improves. There were only 4 other people fishing so wasn't crowded at all.
