Still have some opening this thanksgiving week. Big heathly fish being caught on Granbury to 8lbs. Whitney fishing is good (boated about 30 stripers yesterday to 7lbs).
After this cold snap approaching near Thanksgiving, the big fish will be moving. Will start trips in the river above Whitney.
Give me a call!

Here is Pic of some of the Whitney fish caught this last weekend. Big fish were elusive, however what is not shown in this pic is that we caught fish until we ran out of bait.

Do you expect any similar movement in Granbury like what happens this time of year in Whitney and other striper lakes?

Absolutely! I have caught numerous big fish in the river above Granbury years back. I don't think as many make it up there as they used to as it is pretty silted in at the mouth, but you can be sure that from In town to Hunter Park will have stripers. Areas that hold fish year to year include near the Rock Pile, the bend near the Peninsula, under the 51 bridge and the rock cliffs across from Hunter Park launch.

Wow, that was specific! Thank you. I keep my boat at my parents' place in the Peninsula so I was hoping I might be able to find them this winter closer to home. It will be nice not to burn a tank of gas going down to the dam area and back like I was this summer. Specially since I am still learning.

Granbury report continues to improve. Stripers to 7lbs on the lower ends and 100's of sandbass in the river near Tin Top. Catching a few stripers upstream too.
Now is the time!!!

I wish I could predict that far in advance, but I can tell you that there will be fish on the lower ends and on the upper ends in January typically. You will have to work the lake. Bigger fish will start to be caught any day now especially with the recent cool snaps.
Good Luck

Fished Whitney in the River yesterday with Bob Shelton and his wife. Water Temperature was 56. Lots of bait in the river and the fish there are healthy. Yes, the fish are there, just a little later due to the temperature being warmer this year!! Biggest was 27 inches (about 7 to 8lbs) on this day . Bigger fish are sure to show up.
