Okay, its the holidays again, and every year people wonder how to make pie crusts. Well, here's mine.
3 c All Purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons sugar
Pulse a couple times in a food processor til well mixed
Add 1 stick of crisco frozen rock hard then chopped into tiny bits.
Pulse a couple of times til the consistency looks sort of like corn meal.
Add 1/2 c ICE WATER. you don't want a glob of wet flour, you want to pour it around the food processor then pulse just a couple times to get it all moist.
Divide into two gallon size ziplock baggies and put in the fridge to rest a bit.
Roll out the dough inside the baggies, working quickly to keep the fat from melting too much. Cut along all the edges, peel back one side, then invert your pie pan over it, centering it, then turn the whole thing over in one motion. 1 gallon baggies fit 9" pie pans perfectly.. and there's no flour all over the kitchen.

This is my moms pie crust. She gets a ton of compliments on it and I have to agree that its the best! 1 Stick margarine 1 Cup flour 2 Tbsp sugar Soften margarine, add the sugar and flour then mix and press out in a pie pan. Cook at 375 until golden brown (about 12-15 minutes)

Let me get my pie crust recipe in here!
This makes TWO crusts.
2 cups ALL PURPOSE flour 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking powder 3/4 cup COLD Crisco solid shortening Ice Water
The colder the ingredients the better. I have all the material in the fridge from the day BEFORE I make pies.
Mix the flour, salt and baking powder in a COLD bowl quickly
Add the shortening and chop in the shortening QUICKLY with a PASTRY BLENDER. Turn the bowl as you blend and get the job done quickly so as to keep the shortening as solid as possible.
Blend in this way until the shortening is mixed with the flour and has a consistency of coarse cornmeal.
This whole operation with the pastry blender should be done in LESS THAN TWO MINUTES.
Using a fork, mix in a small amount of ice water, fluffing the mixture around to dampen the flour mixture....this will not take more than a couple of OUNCES of water.
Stir and mix quickly until the dough appears to "come together"
Quickly gather into a ball and divide into two balls.
Lightly flour the surface of a rolling area and roll one of the balls of dough, using quick short strokes of the rolling pin.
Gather pie crust dough carefully and put into pie pan for bottom crust.
Use same procedure for top crust.
Cut slits in top crust and dot with real butter
Place pie in PRE-HEATED oven
Enjoy!

fillo dough and melted butter - why make work out of something that's gonna disappear within 15 minutes anyway?

I go to the dairy department and buy the premade crusts. Go to the baking aisle and get a can of apple filling. Empty the can into the bottom crust. Add some cinamon sugar. Cut the other crust into strips with the pizza cutter and lattice work the top crust. Bake it and you got a delicious, easy made apple pie.*
