that is awesome. so not to hyjack, but when the time comes for trout to be released into the ponds around the house, what patterns are working for fly fishing for them?

Never had any luck at all on the fly at the local ponds, or on my ultrlight gear either. That was why we went to turner, not to far and had a blast.

I had luck with buggers, pheasant tails, theo's bombers(millersflyshop), blue north fork nymphs, and hares ears. Really anything simple under size 10 or 12 works pretty well. At the falls I drift them under an indicator but in ponds that really isn't necessary. Retrieve slowly and keep it off the bottom and you're set. Tapered leaders aren't really necessary, I just fish 4 or 5 feet of straight 8lb mono leader with a foot or two of 4lb fluorocarbon tippet for stockers.

I called the Turner Falls office last week inquiring about their stocking schedule. They said that they may not be stocking this year due to low water levels.

That would make sense. It's really dry up there and it's pretty easy for the creek to get low over there. Sucks for us but we still have the Blue river about the same distance from Dallas.

I saw where the Blue River was getting double stockings this month due to other areas not having enough water. I have never tried the Blue River before, only Broken Bow and Turner Falls. My ten year old is already bugging me to take him fly fishing this month so I guess we will be heading to the Blue River for a change.

So the only site I see about Turner Falls is...
http://www.turnerfallspark.com/index.php

and it says the park is closed due to flooding. Is there another place to look?

Yep, Turner Falls is closed. A flood a few weeks ago did a lot damage to the park, washed out roads, etc.

The Blue River would probably be the closest stocked river to Turner Falls.

I called the park a few weeks back and asked them about the trout and was told they would not be stocking this year
