Just read the article on Bassmasters about "Swimbaits - Texas Style" and then visited the Triple J Swimbaits site. They look really good! Anybody have much luck with these? If so what size and colors? How do you like to rig them? Thanks

Ben's baits are killer! I mainly throw the 1J and 2J baits because I can throw them in timber / brush / grass and they come back with fish attached. Rig the 1J with a 8/0 weighted Owner Beast and the 2J with a 10/0 weighted Beast. I like his bluegill and crappie colors because that's what the profile of those baits suggests. For the line-thru baits, I get them in shad colors.

I am not familiar with triple j swimbaits but I have never found a reason with any swimbaits I fish to need a big 10/0 hook...

The top bait is the 2J - it's deep and nearly 6" long. You need the big hook on that bait and with the size of fish it attracts, there's no reason not to use it.

Here's the largest and smallest fish I've caught on the 2J. His bigger baits aren't "numbers" swimbaits like a basstrix or money minnow style bait.

Thanks Blu, I'm ready to try some. Especially this coming up spring. You order direct from him?

LoneStar64,

Give them a try. Ben's baits are awesome and you wont find a nicer guy!

LoneStar64,
I echo what the others have said about Triple J baits and most of all about Ben. He and I went to college together, fished together regularly, and you will not find a nicer guy. If you want personal service from a lure manufacturer, give Ben a call. But when you start catching BIG fish here in East Texas on those baits, PLEASE do not tell anybody. I've been keeping it a secret here behind the "pine curtain" for several years. These things catch fish! Good Luck

They closed shop, sadly. I could use some new baits.
