I'll take my old 91 Cajun any day,that is what made them great.I have had it on Whitney in 35 MPH winds,when all the new high dollar boats called it a day,and it did just fine.Plus the life time transom it bullet prof.After fishing all day,when I pull the plug,about 1 cup of water comes out.image{}

Wow - this old dead horse has been beat to dust...

As the old saying goes "it's not the arrow - it's the Indian", running any bass boat in rough water is 70% brains/experiance-30% confidence and 0% ego !... having spent 20+ years fishing/boating & draw tournamenting on Lake Erie I have been in all the major brands and when "ego" is driving instead of "brains" it's a wet hard ride - period ! - with that said when it's filled to the gunnels with water I would rather be sitting in a Ranger...just my 2 cents.

The best rough water boat is the one that gets you back to the ramp.

even with the motor trimmed all the way down it still acted like it wanted to speer waves.

Well based on this comment, I would say that we have an inexperienced driver here so I wouldn't take these comments to heart.

If you want the nose up, don't trim all the way down my man. You're going the wrong way.

Just kidding

The older Champions are great. I was also impressed with a ride I took in a CDC Nitro a couple of years ago in 40 mph winds at how well it drove in the rough water.

If i can make it from Umphreys to buck bay in 20 mph north winds DRY in my Ranger 188vs I'm pretty sure its not the driver. People were speering waves in a 21 ft boat. The waves were only 2-3 feet. That should not happen.

I'll go with the old Champs. My 97 221 Elite 225 Merc EFI. Will handle any big water lake. Legends are close, but they are a Champ knock off. Hull designer from Champ designed Legends.
