*IF* you have decided to enlighten everyone with your opinion on what "BEST" is, then you obviously have something to back that said opinion up with. You are a credible opinion when you actually decide that your opinion is worthy of the effort.

If on the other hand you offer opinions without any effort to support them, then you are absolutely nothing but a blowhard.

My blowhard statement (if you need to read it carefully) is just for those with opinions and no intent on the effort to prove that opinion out.

Harsh? I sure hope so.

Just so I'm clear, someone who gave their opinion on this thread will be considered a blowhard unless they spend the time and money to drive to the showdown that you are putting on in order to back up their statement. Mind you, the showdown is during the week and most people on here work.

This is an interesting concept. I'm curious as to how one can judge the rough water capability of a boat without actually riding in it, since you said that you would not ride with someone because you do not know how well they drive. Will the judging be done from the bank ?? will you measure the height of the spray of the waves they make with your eyes ? Will it be time based ? (I'm betting on the Allisons if that's the case)Just how will the winner be determined ?

Also, do you plan on doing these showdowns for items other than boats ? For instance, it is my opinion that Wendy's makes the best fast food burger. Will I have to bring my Wendy's burger to a showdown against McDonalds and Burger King and prove that it is best in order to not be considered a blowhard ? Who will judge that one ? Where will it take place ?Can I volunteer to help ? smile

hey smoke, first off I doubt anyone on here took offense at what pat said had they I have no doubt that it would be in a post.
as I stated (twice before) this comes up on here often and now there is a challenge out to come prove what your boat will do in rough water, simply that (don't look for any fights at the boat ramp cuz pretty much everyone on here respects one another).
if you have a problem with what is proposed then show up, bring your boat and lets go. if your not going to participate then what problem do you have with what pat said or does. seems like a lot of trolling to me.

Hold on. Pat has a problem with what other people say. Seems similar to the situation that you just explained to me, ie... "Why do you care what pat says or does". So why don't you ask him the same question ????
Why does Pat care what someone says about their boats on here ?
Isn't that fair ?

I have kept up with this thread since it started and if you go back and look, alot of the people that started off touting their boat as one of, if not the best are no where to be found now. Go back and look and you will see what I say is true and that was before any date or time was mentioned. So blowhards? Seems there are a lot of them, but we will see when the time comes. I don't care, I know my Champ has been out on Rayburn in 20+ mile winds and I know what it rides like, A CHAMP.

Seems like you do too.

Pats putting the challenge out. The topic gets put up so many times and all the boat owners puts their boat up as best or good riding boat. Now we have a chance to find out a little about which boats can run in "it".

I won't put mine up as best. Good and better than some, I think. I will be there if possible.

Once again...I don't have an agenda. I don't care who does good, or bad. I am not selling anything or do I care one bit what you buy and like.
I do get annoyed at everyone's "best" ride ever. My position is, let's find out. Is it going to be the perfect scenario for everyone? No way possible. I do travel, so I do get a chance to be in various places, this is mostly a DFW site, so that made the most sense to have the largest number of testers. If you live too far away, oh well. If I wanted it to be convenient for me, it would be 1/4 mile from my house on lake Travis.

If someone else wants to organize this dance, by all means please take it, fine with me. You can have the sand, the pail and the shovel. I promise I'm not going to spend a lot of time or energy on it, but it will be interesting to see what the results would be.
