Created a new bass fly I call Bass Brunch. One pattern is tied to mimic a Bluegill, one a Gizzard Shad, and one a Threadfin Shad. First two tests with Bluegill pattern were successful. Will be doing more field tests on Lake Athens, tomorrow. Bass Brunch-Bluegill Bass Brunch-Gizzard Shad

Made a few buggers. Still learning how to fish them off the bottom.
Real slow, alot of time the fish will take them on the initial fall though.

Real slow, alot of time the fish will take them on the initial fall though. The black one with red flash in the tail caught a bunch of green sunfish. I just let it sink slowly, and then pull it in slowly once it gets close to the bottom.

Do you fish with your flies too, or just your husband? You can learn a lot from You Tube on making flies. Also visit Fly Fish Ohio. They have great videos too.

You will get it, it just takes a little time. Once you get that first fish on the fly, you will be hooked on fly fishing. I know I was!

Now now dont encourage her. Her place is at the fly table making me flies, not on the water lol.

I am just now learning how to fly fish. I have the 10 and 2 down really well, but I lack on accuracy and distance. I have yet to catch a fish on it. I too have just started learning to fly fish. We are planning a fly trip to the Lower Mountain Fork in OK so I have been out working on my casting, decided to use a fly so I didn't look totally crazy, and landed my first 2 fish on the fly, was way cool, see Here Was fishing a local pond so that I had plenty of room to work on my cast.

Robin; the small ones up front are punched out with a paper punch; the larger ones in the back are 5/16. No tye much made me some cutters years ago to punch em out with. That's a streamer hook, size 8 4x i think. A guy over on ultralight is gonna do a step by step; thing about it is there's lots of variations. Like, I took a slim piece (1/8 inch wide) of 1.5 mm foam and spiraled around the hook shank before I put the discs on to keep them from crossing underneath; came out pretty good; brim and yearling bass ought to love em-p-
