 Best catfish spinning reel?

Just getting some info from you guys on spinning reels? Wife bought me a ugly stick spinning rod and need a reel for it? Thx for all advice in advance.

Chase4 turned me onto Bass Pro CatMaxx reels - $39.99 and tuff/solid - size 70 or 80- I have two now and really like them One is on a Cabellas 8' MH King Kat rod and other is on 10' MH Pro- Angler rod  Chase4 has them on 7'8" MH Pro- Angler rods with 65 lb Power Pro braid Don't think you'll find a reel in price range that comes close-

if u want cheap- Qauntum size 60 4 bearings- $19.99 at Academy- I got one of them on 8' rod also and reeled in a 3 1/2' (20+ lb)long nose gar with it no problems.

Diawa BG 20. It doesnt have a bait runner but its a SOLID reel and has a great drag.

guess it will depend on which ugly stick u got- CatMaxx probally too big for the 6' or 6'6" medium ones - better to get a 40 or 50 series reel- if u got the 7" MH ugly stick then either of the two above

I got the 70 series CatMaxx cuz it's big and the 80 size is huge

it is a 6'6 and the catmax has many postive reviews and I agree with it being to big and i really perfer 7'rods and above but she was trying to be nice thinking hard of returning it and taking the money and getting a twc extreme rod just dont want to hurt her feelings. Decisions, Decisions lol

go get a qauntum size 40 or 60 for $20 for the rod she got u - not a bad combo ( then it will be be good for channels AND blues up to 15 lbs) and keeps wife happy - and later on get a 7'-8' rod and Catmaxx

Those quantums have been a good bargain and descent for the price. Havent broken one yet and at that price you can afford to replace.

I bought a pair of the Cabela's Salt Striker SSBF-65 Baitrunners to put on my Pro Angler rods. They've been awesome on catfish, 50+" gar, and Sharks down on the coast. They're not the cheapest reel out there but not near the highest either.

I been wanting to try one of those Salt Striker baitrunners but they run $65 and I'm a poor boy so I went with the CatMaxx for $40- no baitrunner tho.... Got mine in the store at the online price. $52 each. They run quite a bit of their bigger spinning reels and saltwater gear cheaper online.
