I do my three way rig opposite yours, I put the hook on the long leader and the weight on the short. I do that when fishing for channel cats at Bridgeport.

I've always used the Carolina Rig.. what's the advantage in these rigs... keeps the bait a little off bottom ???

Exactly, it keeps it off the bottom and sticks it up in their face. Cats aren't always hugging bottom so these rigs make it easy to adjust to diff depths that they are holding at

Thanks that's what I figured... my buddy has been using that Santee rig.. haven't seen much differance in our hook ups but we have been on dink fest the last few trips !... I guess the cork doesn't bother them.. just seems a little bulky to me but i'll give it a shot...

I'd like to know how to tie that knot you do on the hook. Thanks for posting the S.C. rig looks perfect for drifting. Just got my first kayak and now have to decide where to go. Going to travel light- Casting net, Bait bucket, Very small tackle box, Abu Garcia on a lightening rod with 15 pound Andie, Ice Chest for the keepers, gallon of Arizona green tea with ginseng and honey, trail mix, PFD, Paddle, Phone. Think I'll try Grapevine where Denton Creek come in,they might be packed in there like sardines after all this rain.

Bored and thought I would post the difference of the two: Santee Cooper 3-Way Rig Heres the one I like ,looks like a combination of your two. Everything falls to the bottom for casting then in the water the float lifts the bait up to your determined height.

Chase or anyone else,
What size floats do yall use on the Santee Driftin?
Also, does anyone use a float on their hook-line section of the 3 way rig?
