1. What bite alarms do you own, and are you happy with them? 2. What do you look for when purchasing bite alarms?
Extra Credit Question: What is value of having Bite Alarms?
I tend to over think fishing. Please help me. When I am over complicating something please kick me in the face. Hard.

1, Delkim TXi 2, After using everything from the original optonics over 25 years ago,I've seen the bite alarm evolve into a amazing piece of kit. I'd buy Delkim over any for their amazing features great aftersales basically being the leaders in alarms. The value of alarms are: being able to take a nap(not having to use the orange bobbins you'd fill with water) and having to worry about your rods being pulled in

I have 2 Delkim EV Plus and 1 Fox Warrior. I love the Delks but I wish I had saved up and gotten TXi's instead as I know I'm gonna eventually end up buying transmitters anyway.
As for the Fox, it is a remarkably dependable little alarm for the money. It's gotten soaking wet and been through several wicked storms and is still going strong. I have noticed that it gets very quiet when it's wet but once it dries out it's as good as new. I don't like the lack of sensitivity control on it...it's pretty sensitive by default and can drive you a little batty if it's really windy or the water is wavy. This hasn't been as much of an issue since I got 3lb. TC rods. Plus I haven't had to replace the battery since I bought it a year and a half ago.
The value of alarms for me is being able to sit together with fellow anglers and shoot the breeze without having to stay on top of and stare at your rods and lines, plus they are a good deal louder than just the baitrunner clicker. I haven't done any long sessions yet but I can definitely see the value there too as Wurzzle said.

i got the delkims txi plus, with remote. iv had many alarms in the past, i like the delks cause of the easy settings, they work good and the battery last a hella long time. plus the have no moving parts inside, so to me thats a plus, nothen to wear out. and the 9v battery is a plus, where i live walmart and radio shack dont carry those n batterys.
the value is being able to party and not have to watch the rods.

1. What bite alarms do you own, and are you happy with them? 2X Fox Micros and 1 BFS (not the screamer). I am okay with all of the alarms I have, but I do wish the microns has a different light and tone for drop backs. I don't expect the BFS to have a long life, but could be wrong. I do expect to upgrade at some point.
In the past I had a BFS screamer. I disliked it. Lacked features and could not see the light very well.
2. What do you look for when purchasing bite alarms? Visible Lights, Volume and tone control, different tone for drop back. I don't have a need for a transmitter. Ability to handle the rain.
What is value of having Bite Alarms? I really don't think it most situation it helps me catch fish, but it does let me not pay attention. The real reason I like them is because they look cool and the adrenaline caused by the SCRREEEEAAAM.
I tend to over think fishing. Please help me. When I am over complicating something please kick me in the face. Hard.

1. What bite alarms do you own, and are you happy with them?
ATTX, with blue leds and tarty blue rollers.
2. What do you look for when purchasing bite alarms?
Tarty Blue Lights and Rollers
Extra Credit Question: What is value of having Bite Alarms? I can look at tarty blue leds and rollers, whilst watching the lake for fish. I guess the real answer would be being able to watch the lake for signs of fish.

1. Flajzar TBI 861; quite happy! 2. Value, reliability, stamina, tone and volume and sensitivity controls. Xtra: Being able to pay attention to something else while bankside; catching a nap; being cool!

1. What bite alarms do you own, and are you happy with them? DAM Wireless LCD's. Love 'em- I'm on my second set (I fell on my first set).
2. What do you look for when purchasing bite alarms? Wireless Remote, Ability to operate alarms with or without remote, tone that changes with the speed of the run, Tone Control, Sensitivity Control, Volume Control, Good Wet Operation. Extra Credit Question: What is value of having Bite Alarms? I don't consider it "Fishing" unless it is an overnighter. Alarms allow me to catch some ZZZZZZZZZ's while fishing. Alarms allow you to cruise down the bank and hang out with your buddies without keeping you tied to one spot. Alarms allow you to relax while you're fishing instead of keeping you at attention the whole time. Chad

1/ Silver foil paper folded up hanging on the line -- works fine, but - I have ping pong balls for special occasions. Thrilled with them. 2/ Candy bars wrapped with foil, or just do a bit of dumpster divin' in the garbage cans -- someone will have thrown kitchen foil in there after a lakeside party -- that's the best 'cos it's recycling. Credit - You know you've got something interfering with your balls (dough ones - of course)
If this doesn't work - Delkim TXI's are the answer to all 3 questions.

I've had a LOT of alarms. When they say buy quality the first time and save money in the long run, they are talking about me. To this day my favorite alarm is the LSI Striker, and ultra budget alarm that was sold by Wacker baits I think? Low sensitivity, very water resistant, loud tone and bright LED. They changed the quality after I bought my set and they are not the same anymore but it was a quality alarm. I am in the market for a nice remote set so I've been giving this a lot of thought lately.
1. What bite alarms do you own, and are you happy with them? Fox Mx decent Fox MX2 decent Prologic puck's good when they were new but N type batteries a pain to find sometimes and alarms are not loud enough. Failing after a few years and a few dunkings. LSI Strikers - awesome, not made the same anymore
2. What do you look for when purchasing bite alarms? Not too sensitive or sensitivity adjustment. Different dropback tone is nice to have. Bright LED Good battery life Good remote with long range Waterproof (Probably getting ATTs set soon)
Extra Credit Question: What is value of having Bite Alarms?
Socializing and fishing through the night. Annoying your friends while tightening your lines. Attracting a crowd with a run, gives an opportunity to talk about the sport with bystanders and to check out the scenery up close.

I use fox eos and have had them for a few years now. I like the adjustibility of them, the ease of use and being able to switch led colors to suit my needs. They are pretty compact and have survived rain, freezing rain and below freezing temps with no problems what so ever

I'm waiting for the launch of the Delkim TXi-phone.
Bite Alarms? There's an iCarp app for that.

I've had the same Fox Sxv's for some time now. They do exactly what a buzzer should do, with a few other options that I really don't often use.
If/when I upgrade I'll definitely look into a silent remote system. In part because of being distant from my rods, also alarms are annoying as hell, and most of the time I will turn them off.
The value of having bite alarms can range from attracting yokels to you, or alert you to turtles, and catfish. Mostly the Yokels will see them as a conversation starter, and will soon believe anything that you say because you possess something that makes little or no sense to them, therefore what you are doing on the bank seems very important, on the plus side a screaming run sounds a lot better with alarms.
