Dawson -- this is going to affect all anglers that fish the lake. The lake is the responsibility of the City of Austin & TPWD -- so, I think they would hopefully be glad to have anglers volunteering to make things better. There is a massive task ahead to get the lake cleaned up -- which can only be aided by volunteers. The only boat I currently own is a 10ft inflatable -- which wouldn't make much impact.

I took a long drive around the lake - after the water has gone down. The floating dross from previous storms was bad enough -- however, there are going to be many places that are now completely unfishable. I saw a couple of spots with cr^p from bank to bank --- and hundreds of yards long. Who knows what toxins are working in there right now?
PS -- Just read some news footage about sewage pumps failing -- and many hundreds of thousands of gallons of 'nasty stuff' flowing into creeks that tip out directly into our local lakes.

Yeah all you guys who live in Austin and have seen brushy creek lake before should go see it before the water goes back down, its one amazing site to see. The entire park is under water. I'm going by to take pictures today ill post them here but yall really should see it with your own eyes. Its beyond description really.

We're more used to it here in Houston; the hill country just can't handle the amount of rain.
After every heavy rain storm Buffalo Bayou is covered with plastic bottles, styrofoam cups, and other garbage. Sickening, but part and parcel with living in the big city. Unfortunately.

i took some video as i was passing by, its freakin' crazy.

as for the trash in LBL, when you consider the amount of traffic you get from people on the lake im surprised there's not more! you dont really need to clean it up, you just need to see to it that the trash makes it past longhorn dam, after that its webbervilles problem! wink

jk...

Wow! Get back from vacation last night to find out I can't get to my house as the road is under water. Try to go into the office today but the road out front is still closed with trash and mud all over it.

Guess I get one more day of vacation!
