It's been a little damp here for a good few hours now shocked
Just a light drizzle right now on the East side -- however, when I left the shop on the south side about an hour ago -- it was pretty nasty!! It'll be interesting seeing how much more cr&p is deposited in the lake with this storm barf The floating cr&p has been bad just about all summer -- and really makes the lake look terrible.

Now the entire yard is 3 inches deep! never seen it this bad in 20 years of living here. San Gabriel may hit the bridges again!

Nowhere near as bad as the flood of '07.

Besides the old bridge 2 ft above normal flow was replaced this year by the bridge next to it, 50ft higher.

I love it when the rain resupplies the carp in the river/creek.

Bring on the rain and the shallow water carp.! bolt

I know what you mean about the trash Brid, the yakkers and joggers litter from Spring-Fall some days when the water is low you can walk on it without stepping in the mud. Look on the bright side though, at least it isn't carp all over the the banks like in Illinois and Indiana were most anglers really hate carp and IDNR promotes removal.

If you toss carp on the bank there IDNR thanks you (doesn't matter to them if it's illegal).

Thank goodness for at least a little bit of recognition around here -- that we have a 'situation' that needs dealing with shocked
You'd think that between the folks that consistently post local stuff about the 'eyesore' of cr^p in the lake - and a good caring representative for Carping here -- we might actually get something done to help this poor water even survive?
I can't say anything -- for fear of being called names though smile
It's all in the hands of 'higher powers' -- where I'm not supposed to tread - according to the law of CAG.

The lake is currently threatened by massive pollution possibilities (has been for years, with road run off drainage in there), completely unpoliced fishing /fish removal regulations -- and has been for many years -- yet, those "in the know" -- without any scientific knowledge make banal comments like "Quack Quack" - and "The lake is just fine - leave it to the experts at TPWD".
Sure - the Carp will astound a lot of folks because of their tenacity and survive way longer than other fish -- merely by the fact they can withstand 0.5 saturated 02 levels - where most other denizens require 2.5 -- but, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING being done to assure this will happen.
A little bit of remedial work right now might ensure a great Carp fishery for years to come.
A friend of mine had a great idea for us Carpers really caring about cleaning the lake up -- working with TPWD, and having the use of a boat supplied by them -- to go out and 'de-louse' the miserable amount of garbage floating in here.
It could easily be achieved with a few dedicated volunteers that could spare an afternoon or two a week.
Wouldn't that be a step in the right direction for anyone wanting to fish comfortably here -- hold official contests proclaiming it to be Carp Nirvana -- and supposedly consider this "Our Beloved Lake"?
Seems I'm obviously much mistaken, the lake is just fine, and I shouldn't even bother talking to the authorities -- as it's all being taken care of by our representative.
Well -- another late post -- which I guess totally opens me up to more ridicule from those that know absolutely nothing about me -- yet still feel they have to stick a knife in wherever possible wink Let's see what the lake looks like when I go to work this afternoon.
SAVE TOWN LAKE

Over 14" fallen so far in Georgetown and more than 6" downtown Austin.

They have opened the gates at Tom Miller dam to prevent Lake Austin from flooding. Earlier this morning LBL flooded and turtles were washed up and dumped into the middle of Caesar Chavez, and several homeless people were stranded in the gazebo by 1st Street bridge and had to be rescued by boat. The gates at Longhorn dam have been opened and the river below the dam is now at risk of flooding in certain areas.

It was declared dangerous in LBL earlier this morning due to the amount of floating debris - the majority of which is being washed in from the streets.

Brid, various organizations schedule several clean-up days each year when they walk the banks and kayak the edges filling up plastic bags - they hardly make a dent in the problem. Until people stop trashing the streets and feeder creeks, this will an endless clean-up effort. As for being ridiculed for your remarks - you leave yourself wide open. Maybe one day you might get the message.

I guess I am going to fish the Colorado in Columbus. I have stopped by there at least a dozen times to look at the water but have not fished it yet. This may be a good time to get the Houston guys there for a fish in.

Why not go get your own boat to clean up the lake instead of relying on tpwd to supply one?

You would have to paddle around LBL or use a trolling motor I guess. but maybe us fisherman should think about it. Good idea DH!
