I went below the dam and waded just behind the wire and was throwing as far as I could towards the dam. The rocks are huge and small making it hard to move around very much. I kept getting hung up it seemed my weight is what was hanging up not the hook. I was using a 3oz bank sinker. I tried 2oz but it didnt make a difference except in casting distance. When I got hung up lost weight and hook. Have any ideas on how to cut down on the amount of tackle lost? I was thinking of like a slip bobber type thing but needed it to hold 3oz of weight and some live bait. Any suggestions or better idea???

try a 3 way rig with a float or bobber on the leader to the hook to keep the bait off the bottom. Make sure your weight line is smaller then your main line. If you break off then the hook and bait will come back then youll just have to tie on a new dropper line asnd weight. Depending on the depth you could use a slip bobber and let the bait drift also. They also sell no snag type weights they use up north in the rocks for waleye but they get kind of pricey, i believe lindy sells them. hope it helps

hey man... come on.. help the brother out. yo, just use a balloon as a bobber. tied a leader line about 3 feet w/ no weight, a 2/0 hook and a live perch. make sure the wind is blowing towards the dam that way u can let the balloon float towards the dam in the deeper area.

Thats how I do it too! Dont waste lead down there, your gonna get stuck. Feed the ballon line and wait for the "POP" then hang on!

I would put about 3 to 5ft of line as a leader, any less and your gonna run in with the gars.

Is PK getting any action these days ? We use to tear it up down there 5-6 yrs ago.

We use to tie a cork bobber on a 3ft leader and another 3ft leader with a perch both tied to a swivel. Then launch it out there with a surf rod and the perch will sink 6ft under the bobber. We use to limit out fast and the walk back up the dam was hella tiring cause we had huge striper on our stringers.

Is there public bank access on both sides of the river below the dam? Whats the best way to get there if you are coming up on highway 16? Me and a buddy are thinking of trying it in a couple of weeks but have never been there. Thanks for any help.
