Just to set the story up a little, about 20-25 feet in front of the spot I fish from normally, there is something in the water that you almost always get snagged on. It's either a rope, cable, or something that just eats lures up. Last weekend I lost 3 crankbaits on it. I replaced all 3 crankbaits this week. So went out to my favorite spot again this morning...only to lose all 3 on the same spot again! Frustrating as all heck. About 10 minutes after losing the third one I see one of my crankbaits float to the surface. I throw on a chatterbait because it's the biggest lure I brought with me and just start heaving it out there trying to catch that crankbait. Finally, after about 25 minutes of trying....BAM, the crankbait is hooked on the chatterbait and I'm reeling her in. I get it back to the bank only to realize one of the other crankbaits I had lost was dangling by a swivel off the treble hook of the crankbait I had managed to catch. LOL Oh, and I caught one fish today. Here are pics of both catches.

Same thing happened to me a few months ago.
I lost a crankbait, but was able to catch a retrieve it about 2 weeks later when another lure snagged on it. Turns out that someone threw a whole birds nest of line into the water.

Nice catch btw.
What is that, about 12?-14"?

Yeah, I was happy to get the one back, but getting the second was icing on the cake.

The tackle box is 16"...so roughly around that length.

lol Yeah, and it's terrible. No matter how many times I tell myself "don't cast right there"...it still happens.

While bank fishing at Lavon, picked up a nice minnow bucket. The kind you put live bait in. It was just laying on the bank. It was full of crude, but it was free. Also picked up plenty of weights and lures.

I lost a 1/4 oz lipless crank one time when a fish wrapped me up in a tree and snapped my line.

Two days later, fishing the same area, I snagged something. When I finally pulled it in I realized that I had hooked my old line with the exact same lure that I had lost two days earlier!

Thats why Academy stays in business. I usually go there twice a month for tackle. I guess thats just part of fishing.

LOL awesome! I love inline spinners like Mepps and Rooster Tails. Grew up using those.

Always great taking the kids out. My 5 year old asks me every day if we're going fishing. Wish we could go everyday.

Speaking of funny catches... check this guy out. Looks like tons of fun!!

Article:
This just in from the "strange but probably true" files. Fisherman Raphael Biagini reeled in what is believed to be a 30-pound koi carp in France, where the fish are quite popular. The fish, a vivid orange, looks a great deal like a giant goldfish. The photo is several months old, but it's buzzing right now, thanks to an article from the U.K.'s Daily Mail.
Not surprisingly, Yahoo! searches on "giant goldfish" are currently soaring. However, it's important to remember that this guy only looks like a super-size version of every child's first pet. And, for the record, Mr. Biagini, who has caught many a giant carp in his day, returned the orange fish to the water after having his photo taken.

A few years ago I snagged and lost a rat-l-trap. I tied on a new one and the next cast I caught a ziplock bag with the exact same rat-l-trap in it (not mine).
