Took the Family to PK. Met up w/Capt. Paul & co. Arrived around 4PM. As we get close to the water we see these...

A quick sharp whistle! They strike a pose.

So close to people. Later i find out that the park puts feed outside the gates for them.
Saw deer dropping all inside the park. see tha buck?

We grab a bite, set up the tents, catch bait and toss em out.
Capt. Paul wondering if we had enough bait in the water.

SANDBASS CITY! All short too!~(
Hoping any minute the Bigs would move in. We keep baiting & achunkin:~)

Then the cats move in. Well kinda:~{

Here it is. THE ONE!!!

Yes, I joined the mysterious Fish Zombie and his faithful sidekick Capt Paul for this trip on the Upper Brazos. We were on fish pretty much the whole day, but other than some healthy sandies, most of the fish caught (by me anyway) were of the dink variety. I did do battle with one decent size striper during the trip, and was so excited that I raised my rod tip when he got to my yak and yanked him off the hook. Hate it when that happens. bang Anyway, it was a beautiful day at the river, and I enjoyed spending part of it with Zombie and Paul. Here are a couple of pics and videos of our little adventures.

Only managed one picture of Zombie and Paul together, although it‘s a little blurry. But having seen their mugs, I can tell you guys and gals that you’re not missing much. That’s Paul on the right, and Zombie on the left in his typical “the zombie is coming to get you” pose.

I actually took this picture of my yak from the 6 o’clock position because I’m trying to work something up for my TFF signature. The picture turned out pretty good, I think.

After putting in, we headed South with striper alley as our destination, and the plan was to fish our way there. My first catch o’ the day, but certainly not the last. I must have caught a dozen dinky LMB during this trip.

Zombie getting up close and personal with whatever lives under this laydown. I think something in there kept hitting his buzz bait, and that pissed Zombie off. So he debarked and commenced to "close with and destroy" the guilty parties. I was reminded of Bill Murray and the gopher in Caddyshack. rolfmao

Another shot of El Monstro. I titled this one, “Violent Zombie in calm waters.”

After getting back to the Hwy 16 bridge, Paul and Zombie bailed on me (something about having a family at the campground; but now I think they just wanted to go play with the deer). Feeling pretty worn out myself from paddling down to striper alley and then back up river, I also considered cashing in my chips, but Zombie threatened to punk me out on the TFF if I didn’t paddle up to the dam. And I’m glad I did.

Had lots of fun at some of the holes on the way to the dam and at these shallow rapids just beyond the two pipes. I was actually trying to see if I could coax a smallie to hit in these shallows, and although I never found the small mouths, it was still a blast throwing a popper and having somthing hit it on just about each cast. I posted some video of this area later in the thread.

This guy kept hitting the popper but I couldn’t seal the deal, and just when I was about to give up on him, he hit it again and I managed to quickly set the hook. And even then I barely had him hooked on a tiny bit of lip, but it was enough to bring him in. Take that bass! And I hope I got your momma too!

I cast my popper into an eddy and then notice my line was looped on my rod tip. So I untangled it and started to reel it in before I realized I had this guy coming along for the ride. Dumb kitty.

This guy was awfully light colored compared to the other LMB I’d caught that day; he was almost golden colored, so much so that when I first saw him, I thought I’d hooked a smallie.

Yes, I finally made it to the dam. But I didn’t have much luck there other than lots of gar that turned out to be a pretty big nuisance. Luckily I had a blast on the way there.

Dave...the river was what I now consider to be it's "normal" flow, about 300 CFS. When we went earlier in the year, it was kind of low, I think.

Yes Bambie was hungry & scared so the Capt & I headed back to camp. before it got too hot, the wife & i gathered everything up, got chow & a shower then hit the Rd. Passed by the dam around 4pm & we saw your truck still there: flehan i was a little jealous.

nice clips & pics! Gar wouldn't leave my swim bait alone either thumb Wanna Play a round of GULF? To Be Continued...
