I am working on a 1964 Evinrude 5.5 outboard motor. I determined I need a new coil. A quick trip to the internet, I found a site listing part numbers from NAPA Auto parts for very good prices. Doubting the numbers, I went to Napa. My new coil is on the way. $24.99 + Tax + $5 frieght.

I would of never dreamed Napa would carry parts for an old outboard. Just thought I would pass the info along for anyone needing parts

That's good to know. I bought a sweet 9.5 Evinrude from Uncle Bud a few months ago. thumb

I got plugs for my Merc 90hp at O'Reilly's a couple of weeks ago. Cheaper than Bass Pro too!

you might wanna look into ethonal resistant fuel lines for them old motors...I had '54 Johnson 6 hp, I wish I never sold that motor, I thought (at the time) it was too small & had to have a 15...that 6 always started first pull & ran like a top, I really doubt they build 'em that good anymore.

Does this mean you're finally going to sell me the Whaler?

You are a little late on the Whaler. I sold it a few months ago. I was trying to thin the herd. I bought another boat two days later. bang

Got the coil from NAPA. The motor is making fire in both cylinders now and running great. dance2

The Whaler was your "casual" boat? I'm curious as to what you replaced it with?

Nothing could replace the Whaler. Great little boat.

I bought a 14 ft. Gheenoe low sider. with a 5.5 Evin. I'm going to use it in the river. The Tim Taylor in me wants to upgrade power to a 12 or 15 hp. or a Go Devil style motor.

Dang it Gene, that makes me feel like there's hope in the world for the frugal angler!

You've got an old outboard to bolt on I'm sure.

Just don't shoot any snakes that might fall in. wink
