I actually posted these pictures in the photo section last year, but since there's been some chatter here in the yak section lately about this location, I wanted to repost them. The pictures, which I downloaded off the Internet, show three different views of PK's dam during three different water release rates. The Brazos River is seen behind the dam, and although hard to tell from the picture angles, the river is about 100 feet below to top of the dam. I thought these pics were pretty cool.

Those deep pools just below the dam contain giant stripers and catfish, but access is limited. There is a cable across the river which marks the limit for boats. In past years people have tried all sorts of schemes to get their lines into the honey hole, including radio controlled boats, kites, balloons and others. As each new scheme evolved TP&WL made them illegal.

There is good bank access down the river, but if you are in the river when the gates open there is hardly time to get out.

In the winter TP&WL dumps thousands of 6 inch trout in the river at the dam and at the highway bridge which is just out of sight in the photos. The stripers are truly grateful.
