Haven't been since the late 70's. Hows the Striper bite been? Where is the nicest campsite? What campsites are closest to the dam? Anyone catching Big Stipers anywhere right now?
Beautiful lake. Best campsites are at the state park. Never actually fished it though. Everytime I've been out that way with the yak I've fished the river below the dam. Can't imagine being that close to that part of the Brazos and deciding to fish the lake instead. Might be worth it though. I'm no expert, but I think the striper fishing pretty much all through that areatook a big hit with the flooding/golden alga thing earlier this year. Traditionally, the tailrace has been where it's at for striper. If you wanted to go that route I think there is a BRA campground just below the dam. Never camped there myself, though.

fiSh ZoMbiE,
Golden Alga hit the lake hard again this winter and killed off a big chunk of the stripers but the bass fishing isn't bad. I've caught some quality bass up to 8lbs this spring but haven't been back since June. Let me know if you go out there and I'll try to steer you in the right direction.
I'll have to agree that the state park has the best campsites.
Hey guys. How's the lake for spots and or smallmouths? Thinkin about doing a camp and fish at the state park. Either gonna bring my canoe or my tube. Been catchin some really nice smallies and spots up at Eisenhower / Texoma. But, would like to see what PK looks like.
