Well it is my turn to kick off the next swap. This is my first time hosting and I am going outside the box on this one so lets see what everyone thinks. I will set the limit to 12 tiers for now with 1 alternate if we need it. If there is enough interest and everyone agrees we can add a few additional spots. Sign up will start now and end on 9/9/10. The swap will tentatively end on 9/30/10. All jigs should be in the mail the following week or sooner.

The theme will be "What's bugging me is this one won't fish" This is a two jig tie and that is the reason for the smaller tier count. The "What's bugging me" is the first part and "This won't fish" is the second part.

What's bugging me
Let's see what you got for bugs. Any type of a bug, that could include foam or other inventive ingredients. While not required it is encouraged to use some types of legs or wings. Go crazy with the colors or make something true to nature. Just give it a shot if you have never tried to make one because fish do feed on them.

This won't fish
We all post pictures of jigs on here from time to time and a lot of responses are "that will catch them". Well let's see something that you think it can't possibly catch a fish let alone a log. Now don't just throw some stuff on a hook and say there it is. Look at your bench or bins and find some thing you have not used in awhile. Maybe try some color combos that never occurred to you. Then let everyone else prove that you can catch fish on that jig.

Please refer to the jig guidelines if you have never been in a swap, newcomers are welcome so jump in if you have never done one. Everyone will tell you it is like Christmas when those mystery jigs show up in your mailbox. I will PM my address to the tiers once the swap starts. Pictures will be sent to me for posting for a teaser as the swap goes along and people finish up. If all goes well in a month we will have a couple of dozen new jigs just in time for cooler weather and catching those slabs bulking up for winter.

Less then 5 days left to sign up and this swap does not interest anyone? So is the idea of tying 2 different flies a bad one or is it something else?

I think that jig tiers have a lot of pride in thier work and tying a jig that they think wouldn't catch a fish wouldn't appeal to them. One reason I joined this forum was to participate in the swaps, but I would want to get jigs from other tiers that they did their best on. Just my opinion.

Thanks for the response. I was speaking figuratively though. Kinda like a spring cleaning or man I have never tied anything with that stuff since I bought it. Who would have known if a tier threw something together or did a regular jig filled with pride anyhow.

I guess it was a concept that people didn't understand or just didn't want to try. I was aiming for a different idea then the usual swap where you get one jig. With two days left it looks like we got the first one person swap. So General Jigs is up next with #12.

I imagine the time of the year has some effect on how many tiers you will get. I would think late winter and early spring is the prime time since the spawn is on everyone's mind.
