I caught and released this beautiful Colorado river bass on 8-22-10 at noon on a soft plastic crawdad while on a 8-9 mile float. After taking pictures, I didn't even make a cast for another 20 minutes or so because I was so excited! I filmed the whole fishing trip and will get it posted on here as soon as I can. She weighed 7.07 lbs and measured 23.5" long. Thanks for letting me share this once in a lifetime river bass with you. Brady

very cool. Can't beat that in the heat of an August day.
I am interested in your light set up. Got any other pictures of it?

Brady, that's a killer fish. I'll bet you had a smile ear to ear for a few hours after that.

I have only had the GoPro camera for two weeks...
I will get the video together ASAP but that may be a few days still.

I wanted to share some pics of my camera mount set up with yall. I used a Scotty mount from AustinKayak.com, a 1/2" PVC pipe, and a couple 45 degree bends. You can also make you own tripod mount by epoxying the correct size bolt into a plug end fitting. Wire guidelines help keep the camera steady. If you have any questions about this setup, I'd love to help you in any way I can. Thanks Brady

We are talking about the Texas Colorado river, no? I fished this river for 50 years and never knew that the Bass ever got much over 5 pounds..... now I know. I guess the big ones are not interested in a dry adams fly no mater how well it is presented.

Big LMB bass will general prefer to eat one big meal once a day instead of a 100 tiny meals. just sayin'...

You would be suprised how few in the overall kayak angling population have actually documented a 20" plus LMB from a Texas river. Bump it to 23" plus and the list of kayak anglers getting it done is very short. Good job amigo.

That's true. All my larger LMB have been caught from lakes and most of those from a bass boat not my kayak. Thinking about it now, I'm not sure I've ever caught a river LMB... Stripers, sandies, smallies, crappie, cats, redfish, trout, guadalupe... I'm not remember a single LMB caught out of a river...

On the lower section of the Colorado river, in the winter when the water gets right, I can catch a boat load of 2 and 3 pounders.. a 4 or 5 pounder, in any river, would surely make for a good fight but If I could hook and manage to land a 7 pounder ( I use light weight tippets) I think I might just wet myself! And if I did not have a witness or camera I would not dare to tell anyone as they would either think I was crazy or a lier or maybe a little bit of both. Please do not run away with the idea that I need big fish or lots of fish to enjoy myself on a river but it never ruins my day when I get lucky and do both. However more times that not I do neither and I still enjoy the time spent. Any time spent fishing is time well spent.

My largest bass (in Texas) was caught on the Brazos while on a trip with YaknYota. Not sure how big it was since we didnt measure or weigh it but it was a big'un.
