If you hit Bastrop the way the temps have been here, you'll probably have to select between hard or soft boiled on the fish. That water gonna be real warm.

Between those two, I'd go with Fayette. 107 degree water temp in some places but some fish are there. Fish slow and get some good ones. ;-) You'll feel like you are in one big sauna so if you can't handle the heat...lol Amazing how fish can even survive in those water temps...

me either. We also have a club tourny out there next month. It was tough last month but the fish are there you just have to find them stacked up on teh deep structure. When you do its great.

well went to bastrop and fished for a couple hours this evening. Had a few bites and a few hoookups, but couldnt seem to bring one in the boat. Only fished for a cpl hours and really had no idea what we were doing. Plan on going some time again really soon.

Anyone know where are the main spots to fish there at bastrop??

Water temp on Bastrop is running about 93 degrees. Always schoolies near and around the dam area...just look for the gang of boats and troll in slow...LOL. Lots of scattered bass in some of the coves near the intake side where the water is slightly cooler (much slightly). You'll pick up some on grassy points with soft jerk baits. Small spoons work on schoolies, but don't expect the same boil/hookup ratio as you would on Toledo Bend....the lake is only 900 acres, so it's pretty easy to find some open-mouth fish. Good luck and good fishin'!
