Wen out Thursday and Friday night. Used live minnows and cut perch under green lights out in front of potters creek park. First night I was in about 40', the next about 20'. Only caught 3 large garfish and 2 sac a lait. Not much going on out there at all. Anyone having luck out there at night?

Have only been on Canyon once this summer back in June and it was a night trip as well. Caught three nice blues and two yellows using cut shad by Cranes Mill other than that it was slow (fished 8 hours). I have also not seen any good reports in a while that have come off of Canyon. Who knows maybe someone is having it great on that lake just don't know.

From what I've been told(take it with a grain of salt), the better fishing is heading upriver a little ways at night. I don't know first hand though. Around the trees and channel cuts.

It has been slow for me also. Last year I was doing good with
the whites and striper. This year they have been hit and miss.

KingBingo, I have been catching a few crappie during the day,
(before boat traffic picks up),around main lake points in 35'
to 40'. Don't figure! They are hanging in where the whites
and striper are suppose to be. My old spots for night fishing
crappie have been terrible. Lots of gar. The good thing is
there is a lot of bait at night. Good Day,

Yeah, tons of minnows and shad in the lights. I caught one sac a lait on a large piece of cut perch!

I usually fish the dam at night, but figured I would try some of those points of off Potters Creek. There is supposed to be a fish attractor near there. Maybe it has to do with the moon phase or this high pressure system, but there wasn't much going on.

i managed to pull some minnows out of the water in the upper guadalupe with nothing more than a kids butterfly net and some hard boiled egg yolks. the minnows just start swarming around 2pm for the egg yolks. now i just need a minnow bucket so i can take some to my fishing spot

try the Fort Sam Houston Rec. area. I used to fish off the pier they had and would always catch crappie, whites, stripers, and cats( blue, channel, and flats) all on minnows. You could just drive your boat up there and anchor up near the pier.

Went out the other night at Turkey Cove. Caught a nice catfish and a couple sac a lait. Missed a couple good hits too. It was still kinda slow though....

They made a new ramp and it is real nice. That old one was about the steepest ramp I had ever been on!

went to rebecca creek last night - fished trees in the river. sac a lait would kill the minnow as soon as you put it in the water. only caught 2 keepers and hooked a large garfish. i think there is too much moonlight right now...

I have been having the problem of alot of undersized crappie
at night in Tom creek. We had the same problem last year, and
I thought they would grow up this year. Now I'm thinking
the big one's are hanging somewhere else. There is alot of
garfish in Tom's also. Guess I'm going to have to get me one
of them bows. Good Day,

The Gar are all over. I have caught them every night I went out. The one I had last night was at least 3 feet long.

I know. im just gunna hold off until i get a license. To much trouble without one. last game warden told me i could get a day pass for $11, i told him i could get a bag of talapia for $6 LOL.

still wondering what i should get ahold of, thinking i should be using minnows. they worked the best back when i was little.

New fishing licenses for 2010-2011 available at some stores starting Aug 20th. Also can get one online or by phone. Info at tpwd internet site:

http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publications/annual/general/information/

Beats getting a ticket or avoiding waiting in a line at a store. Besided the $$ suppose to go to fish and game funds.

it came in pretty hard. from the look of it, it should fill the river a little and get some more flow going.

Tried Turkey Cove last night with minnows. Caught a few small white bass and a small black bass. Not much else happening - maybe it is the moon phase or something. Used to be able to catch lots of fish at night back there....

I fished the artifical reefs this morning for crappie, and
all I could catch was them old big mouth bass and blues. I
sure wish those bass fisherman would start fishing those
spots. They like minnows so make a look-a-like and you got-
them. The blues were keepers. And they love minnows, hooked
under the top fin about 2 ft. off the bottom.Good Day,
