I own a Ranger now but the best riding boat as far as taking on large waves was my last boat.....Triton 21 X2.
The X2 was built for ride quality.

+1
As a non-boater, I fish with a ton of folks in just about every brand. The iClass is by far the best ride that I've had. It's a gentleman's boat - rides like an Escalade. Plows right through the wakes in the boat lane at Fork - like a hot knife through butter!

Just slow down and any boat is good in rough water.

The older Rangers, hands down. They are heavy boats and do the job. The lightweight hulls these days just don't have the nuts to run rough water.

Actually it's the Champion mold with the Stratos name put on it..

Thanks Bob ... gotta keep 'em straight.

Gotta run the big lakes to find out what qualifies as "rough water".

Charger Boats are still being made.. But they are not a volume builder for sure..

I've ridden in plenty of Chargers, and the old nose down design would drown you in rough water, although they did ride good. In fact, my first Bass Boat would have been a Charger had the dealer not gone belly up.

Learning how to drive in the big waves is more important than what boat you drive.

I think I was the only A boat to come from Zorro all the way back to East Diablo.
I have fished big lakes for 35 years and that's the farthest I have ever had to go in water that ROUGH...At one point I caught a huge wave and thought the boat was going to come over backwards. It took me 2 hours to come from Zorrow to Raingod..Good thing I was by myself and had a good stringer of fish.

As for which Bass boat is best..This is one time that size really does mater. But not always in the way you think. Depth and length of the keel are the most important ones when it comes to TRUE rough water..The old Champs. are a good example..They were deep and long up front..Plus the narrow beam made them slice thru waves instead of bouncing over them like a flat-wide hull will do. The extra length of a 21 ftr will help also. True a good driver with a good setup can make a world of difference..However there are some boats that are just better in rough water..

I have owned two champions: 98' 202 and 99' 202. I now own a Ranger Z 520... and I have been in nearly every other brand made. CHAMPION handles rough water better than any boat I have been in.

I have a Triton 21X2 and it handles rough water just fine, not only that it will run and it fishes great and it sets level in the water, no leaning.
