Any Questions?

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

Just how often are you in rough water? I might get in some bad stuff twice a year fishing Amistad and Ivie. Got caught once on the far north end of Buchanan and I was staying at the south end near the dam. That was a fun ride in my then Ranger. Got caught on Amistad in some rough water when I had the Triton X2, good boat. My 20' Skeeter has seen some very rough water and has done just fine. Driving in rough water takes more seat time. Just about any 20' or longer boat will handle any Texas lake if you know how to drive them. I've seen some of the above mentioned so called rough water boats come completely out of the water and bottom out in the trough. Not the boats fault,, the drivers. My back hurt just watching them. We were in the same water and went along pretty smooth, just slower. Skeeters may not be best with their wide bows. I'll take my wide bow for fishing.

Totally agree with the above statement! You can fish out of a canoe if you know how to cooperate with Mother Nature! I know this from personal experience. Each boat handles differently, and it's a matter of feeling out your equipment more then the size of the water.

At our tourny at Amistad in March with 45+ winds, we had to call lake patrol to rescue a team up at MM 17.

They were in a 20ft Champion. 3 Allisons made it back just fine.

Learning how to drive in the big waves is more important than what boat you drive.

cheaper way is good gor-tex,back brace, a dense foam cushion to sit on.if you don't have a hot foot. use the one knee on the seat it take alot shock out of it. sound like you have a nice boat already

Very good points, but I don't think the thread was titled 'best boat driver in rough water' It was titled best boat for rough water....... lol
