it depends on your battery really, course now with all the LED stuff out there you do all that with just one battery. The brighter you go the more bugs you'll deal with too as well as run you charge down. I've seen some really big hand held battery operated spot lights you could mount up front when you're moving.

the little headlights that northern tool sells for mowers dont draw many amps and are relatively cheap. just check out the amp draw before you buy the lights and it should work. the green submersible flouresent lights from academy only draw 2 amps an hour and 3 light up my toon

Used to have a Delhi Jon Boat. I wired graph, nav lights and 3 tractor lights and could run them all night with no issues.

Use a small Lawn Tractor or Motorcyle battery for your lights. Never any fun being stuck on the water with no battery to get you back to the ramp. I got 5 batteries on my Carolina Skiff. 1 dedicated just to cranking & running the big motor. 2 for trolling motor. 1 for lights/radio/graph and 1 as a back up.

Dang Mexicajun1,
it's like you're your own power plant out there LOL but yeah, it's sucks to be out there without power, makes a good day of fishing turn into a bad day in general. Brings to mind a story about a guy who broke down and was stranded, along comes a guy with his wife and m-i-l and the 1st guy hollers out "can I get one of your oars?" the 2nd guy anwsers back "naw mate, ones my wife and the other's my mother in law"

Now using a tractor or motorcycle battery hold up charging all the time it's not a deep cycle battery so could it handle it?

could always put a 12 volt deer feeder battery & solar panel on it & be good to go............. Rubes I've saved SEVERAL boats that had dead batteries in the middle of the lake brotha.

Solar power crossed my mind I wonder how fast it would charge the battery

Your battery should be fully charged between fishing trips. Depends on the size of Panel you purchase. Some charge faster than others. I think Home Depot or Lowes has some that charge faster than the ones they sell at Academy or Tractor Supply.

I always carry one of these in my boat as a backup

I have 3 batteries in my boat but i dont want to mess with changing them on the water when something happens I have used the booster pack several times this year.
