Yes pumping is happening, but is a weak flow relative to past years. lake level is dropping slowly despite adding Trinity water.
As of last Saturday the south ramp is now out of commission for my rig. Most hulls (not the engine) will high center on a rock berm before you get back into your trailer. I had to empty my bilge and get my weight up to the bow so it would float over the berm, scrapping hull as I drove forward using my trolling motor.
High trailered Pontoons probably cannot get out at either ramp.
Trailer wheels will be dropping off the pavement at both ramps. If you are willing to scrap your trailer frame, be sure your spring bracket is mounted far enough back so it does not catch the pavement rim first before your tires do. If you really must fish Fairfield mount a rail ramp in front of any exposed spring bracket gear.
Bring a tow strap or chain sooner of later you or somebody will need it!
Mike tells me TxDot will be dredging and laying pavement out into the lake on both ramps. However, I was so tired three weeks back I forgot to ask him when.

I'm pretty sure you boated the lake below this level last year?
Drive all the way to Fairfield to camp without fishing? Why? Why not Ray Roberts BG fishing and some camping?

I heard today that there was a big fish kill on Fairfield today. Lots of big fish, including catfish up to 20 lbs floating

I too have heard there are some dead large fish seen on the Luminent Park shore line. Count of the kill wasn't described for me. Have not heard what specie yet either.
The TPWD district fish kill specialty team is already activated.
Last Saturday I saw sporatic cases of 10-12" gizzards coming to the surface with some still able to swim slow horizontal circles. With a very few thumb size threadfin here and there.
The lake was cooler than I would have expected for the third weekend in August.

Probably the same thing that happens every year. It is sad but it happens every year at this lake. What they need to do is put an aerator on this lake to help with this.
The gene pool could use a little chlorine.

I'm hearing this one might reach 10X the 2008 kill. Some big reds were killed.
Happening this early I doubt if this will be the last one for this year.

I was just thinking about Fairfield the other day. My mom (now passed) used to fish there a lot. This is a very sad picture. Jackie when was this taken? What a waste. You would think Luminant would try and do something about this... aerator or such... It's not like they don't have the resources to run one!!!

Photo was yesterday afternoon and its a lot worse than anyone can imagine, smells nice also. Luminant is not in the business of making fishermen happy on there cooling lakes.

Wow, that pic does look worse than the 2008 kill. Will Luminant get off the hook again?

this isnt luminant's fault. It's an algea bloom problem compounded by lack of fresh water, high water temps, and the high nutrient content of the water.
during most of the year the food chain in that lake is in fast foward compared to other lakes. it only takes a few cloudy days during the hot summer to off set the amount of oxygen being put into the water by microorganisms and cause this kind of trainwreck fish kill.
i would guess it's easily 20 times worse than the 08 kill. maybe 50 times worse. a very massive fish kill.
i think the areators would have to be on such a large scale that it wouldnt be cost effective for the amount of recreation that takes place on this small lake.
just cross your fingers that the TPWD keeps restocking the reds for us to enjoy. i'm guessing it will take 3 or 4 years to get back to what we had.

The aerators would only have to run a few months.
The gene pool could use a little chlorine.
