I strip the label off a two litter coke bottle, spray it w/ plastic primer and let that dry. Then I spray paint it white w/ a gloss paint, write my gear tag on it, and attach a 150lbs tarred, braided line using an arbor knot to the neck. I cut off about 20' or so of the line and attach a 1/0 Barrel Swivel to the bottom of the line w/ a palomar knot. To that I attach a short length of 25lbs big game mono. I use that to tie my brick on using another arbor knot. I do this so that if the brick becomes tangled in something w/ a fish on I might be able to break the brick off and still retreve the fish but it will take a big fish to break the brick off himself.
About 5 feet up from the brick I attach another 1/0 barrel swivel using a palomer knot. To that I tie about 14 inches of 50lbs big game mono using an improved clinch knot. To the end of that I attach a 5/0 eagle claw circle hook using a palomer knot.
If I want to attach a second hook I move up the line another few feet or where ever I want the second hook and repeat the process. I don't always have two hooks but I never have more than two. Fishing out of a kayak like I do having multiple hooks can be dangerous.
For storage and easy use I wind the braid around the neck of the bottle neatly. I use a rubber band around the bottom of the bottle to slip the hook under to keep it from flopping around and tangling. I line the bricks up in the bottom of my storage crate (which just happens to fit perfectly in the rear well of my kayak) and stand the jugs up on top of the bricks.

Ray,

You probably do this but a neat trick is to spray the inside of the coke bottle so if anything flakes off its not in the boat.

I have never sprayed the inside of the bottle. Is it easy to get good coverage spraying thru the neck of the bottle? That is why I use the plastic primer: to avoid flaking. Fishing out of a yak I don't really have to worry about flakes. Not much effort to wash out but I do want to avoid unnessesary pollutants in our waterways. I'll give it a try next time I'm making a batch of jugs up. Thanks for the tip, bro.

I don't even spray I take those neck lace or bracket glow sticks that and put them in side it really works great and the glow stick ain't to much and well worth it.

Photo of my setup below. I use a ~10" section of pool noodle (wrapped with white duct tape since I moved to tx). About an inch from one end of the noodle I put a bolt through and attached a trotline clip to it. Tie the line around the bolt inside the hollow middle of the noodle, and wrap 15-20' around the noodle. Added a swivel and 1oz sinker and it works really well. 25# braid for the leader. Trotline clip allows you to set depth, just pull off as much lime as you want and hook in. Or just toss it out and it unrolls like a marker buoy. I normally stay near them while fishing which generally keeps me from losing any due to a fish dragging em off. Pretty coat effective too around $2 each. Store great in a cat food bucket and are much easier to set and pick up than "jugs". Line really doesn't matter, just want something that will hold the fish and not cut your hands up, and a leader that isn't going to scare the fish off...

FYI, in case You don't know, each jug has to have your name, address, and the date no older than 30 days prior to the present date. Best of luck.

I've never bothered w/ the date but I've never left mine out longer than dark:thirty till dawn either. Many times I don't even leave just sitting fish for 5 - 6 hours and check 'em.

18" of pool noodle glued to 22" of capped off 1/2" PVC pipe, drill a 1/4 inch hole in 1 cap and run a 1/4-20 eyehole through it, put fingernail polish or locktight on the threads and nut inside the cap.
Wrap it in white duct tape, and mark.
I don't measure the mainline, just guesstimate anywhere from 15 to 25 feet, 1 oz pyramid weights tied to the mainline and a swivel run through the main line with a large plastic bead below the swivel.... I double the line through the bead and I can adjust the max depth I fish by moving the bead up or down. I only use 1-3 foot 50 lb leaders and usually live shad on circle hooks. Store a dozen or so in 1 milk crate.

The spray paintng inside the jug is a good idea, thats what I do however, its got to be spray paint for plastic. Just lightly 'mist' the inside and don't close the jug until dried, I then take some reflective paint and paint a band around the top on the outside, I use alchol pads to remove old dates and use glow sticks (lightly misting ensures the glow shines through)
Regular spray paint inside can misshape your jugs, cheap $1.00 spray paint will work on the outside but because of the surface of the coke bottle it'll flake real quick
