Went down to Copano Bay fishing pier for an overnite fish, my son, my brother-in-law, my son-in-law, me.

The son-in-law landed this black tip shark, just under 3 ft long

We also kept 2 gafftop catfish in the 3 to 5 lb range

My brother-in-law also landed a small stingray and I hooked an alligator gar in the 4 ft long range, he busted the line when we tried to net him. (Trust me, by next year it will have been a 6 foot gar!)

Great fun, too many hardhead catfish & no trout but well worth the trip!

My aunt and uncle used to live in Fulton Beach (couple of miles north of Rockport) and I fished there several times when I was a teenager.

Basically this pier is really an old bridge that was made into a lighted pier, and it runs parallel with SH 35, and is located near Aransas county airport.

How far out on the bridge did you guys go?I would love to try it again. What kind of bait?

Canoes, too, are unobtrusive; they don't storm the natural world or ride over it, but drift in upon it as a part of its own silence. (John Graves)

4th lite from the end - south side. We've caught fish (and been skunked) under almost every lite.

We had frozen squid, live/dead croaker, Gulp! shrimp & live/dead shrimp. The gar hit a dead shrimp on the bottom, (directly under the pier), catfish loved the squid, I think the stingray hit a dead shrimp and my SIL is pretty sure he had a croaker on that the shark hit.

The next lite back towards land caught a couple of nice black drum on frozen crab and the next lite up toward the end also caught a black tip (no idea what bait). We hope to make another trip in a couple of weeks.

Strangest catch we've ever got from there...

Good times! thats a bullshark by the way. Black tips are more slinder with a sharp nose, maybe a sandbar but pretty sure its a bull they look alot alike.
