Posting here cause I know you guys know lake fork well and I know you guys catch bowfin pretty frequently while bass fishing. Is there one specific area you would recommend on fork for bowfin? I've never fished Fork from a boat so any pointers are appreciated. Any good spots for gar would be good too though that should be any cove at this time of year.

The pockets with grass, alligator weed, etc. You could stay in Little Caney all day and never fish the same water twice.

Is there a ramp near there? I've just got the one day and I need to catch 6 to 8 different species, not a lot of time to learn my way around. ahh looks like if I put in at Chaney like I planned I'd be right there.. thanks

there are also a TON of lower unit hungry stumps in little caney so be ready to idle.. Also if you only have one day and a large agenda, I wouldn't spend TOO much time trying to exclusively target bowfin.. they don't happen all the time, but that's just my two cents. When i catch them it seems to be on a spinnerbait shallow, shallow..

I'm going to target each species til I get one to CPR. Starting with redear/warmouth, that will catch me some bluegills and green sunfish bait for gar and bowfin, then probably try a bridge for crappie, need one white and one black, hope to get a yellow bass and maybe a drum in the process. Then I'll go hit coves for gar, and finally go see about some bowfin. Saving bowfin for last since they are probably the hardest to target. I'm sure I will not get all the target species but there is only 2 days left in the tourney and I'm down 4 species... gotta try. Then sunday off to Dennison for striper and suckers!

Agree. Bowfin seem to be a rarity on Fork even for the regulars. There are probably not that many folks that 'target' them but since they feed on artificials also it seems there would be more caught by bass fisherman.

Good luck.
