Not so much. Lol. It's alright, but...

When it comes to Texas Beers, I prefer the following Texas craft breweries...

Real Ale
Live Oak
512
Independence
Saint Arnold
Southern Star
Rahr and Sons

etc

and eventually Shiner, and so on from there.

Yeah, Firemans 4 is a great summer time beer and pretty inexpensive. Brewed here in Texas by the Real Ale brewery!

I like Shiner better but LoneStar is good. Particularly if you can find it ice cold on tap.
I went to college in Oklahoma and me and one of the guys I roomed w/ would drive back over the stateline and get several cases of lonestar and load it up in the fridge at our fraternity house. We were the only ones who would drink it. So as long as we didn't mind suffering the abuse of those dumb okies we had a great beer nobody would even get into while they were drinking their watered-down 3.5% bud light. lol

You'd think that even an Okie would be smart enough to appreciate
beer with full alcoholic content.

I wish it was still a Texas owned and brewed beer. We used to make the annual pilgrimage to the brewery in San Antonio just to tour the museum. For some reason, maybe it's all in my head but, since Millers bought them out and moved the operation to their Ft. Worth plant the taste hasn't been the same.

This is the way I started drinkin it. However it is no longer cheap beer. I could easily pay a dollar more and get some "good beer" as some would call it, but I love my lonestar!!

Lonestar is my go to beer!

Occasionally I will pick up a fancy beer, with an interesting taste to try, but always order lonestar, and keep a case in the fridge.

If it was still cheap I would drink it. Sometimes if I'm in a cowboy bar and they have $1 tallboys I'll have a few. Loved it in college.

I used to bartend on the river walk in San Antonio and we charged $4.50 for a bottle of Lone. All those yankee boys would come down and say "At our BBQ joints in Ohio they always have Lone Star signs on the wall. Let me try one of those." Sometimes if I liked the person I would just give it to them, cuz I felt bad charging them that but if I didn't like them they'd pay the $4.50. Little did they know they could get a six pack for that at the grocery store.

Depends on the beer. Never like beer hot, but there are some beers that actually expand in flavor as they warm.

Besides, Lonestar always tastes hot to me even when 'ice cold lol.

I heard keystone is really just the last 1/4 of the draw from the Coors vats. That is the first 3/4 of the vat is Coors and the last 1/4 is Keystone. Anybody know if that's true? I was told that by someone who used to work for Coors.

Right now, have a frig full of Lone Star - and when I finish it, I save the cans, rinse them ( just a little) and make Red Neck Wind Chimes and mail 'em out to family and friends for Christmas! So, besides me lovin' it - they all love it!

Actually, it is Coors that has gone out of date and poured from the coors cans into the keystone cans.

Love the Lone Star. Use to have meetings at the Lone Star brewery in San Antonio and they would provide the beer. Really far "Back in the Day" I remember a 6-pack for $1.00, but as a youg airman we barley cleared a $100 a month. Still have a distributer friend that gets me a hat and sticker now and then.

Lone Star, back when it was *really* Lone Star, made in San'tonio, was really good beer when it was fresh and cold. Or maybe that's because I was in high school and could buy a quart of Lone Star Draft (Which we cryptically referred to as "LSD") for 89 cents out the back door of our local Ice House.

I'm still drinking it, after close to 40 years. I remember $1.99 16 oz. 6-packs, in Onyx protected glass,(with the thin styrofoam coating), and cases of returnable longnecks for $3.99.
Few people remember the "Giant Amadillo" ads.

Guys Lone Star is a must en every Texans fridge. Really cold while listening to the Astros tending to the ribs cooking low and slow. Its something our dads did, and thier dads before them. White, black, mexican we all do it. with your neighbors, compadres and fishing partners that is the good life!

It was out around 1993 I think? Something like that and yes it was pretty potent.

Grandpa was a distributor for nearly 50 years; love the stuff. I've got a pretty sweet bar setup back home at the ranch. Some highlights:

BTW, those with an iPhone, Lone Star has an app that lets you find an answer to the puzzles under the cap.

Several beers from Lone Star Brewery in the past: Bock, Dry, Draught, & Ice. Believe it or not, LS was one of the first breweries to introduce beer with lime already in it; called Lime Lager back in the 70's.

Thanks guys. My grandpa past away in 2004, so my friends and I redid his office in 2005 as tribute to him and dugout every piece of LS we could find in the warehouse. My family really enjoys the place too and have had Thanksgiving and Easter there. Oh yeah, there always a cold Lone Star Light in the fridge for anyone dropping by. wink

It's good when I are sitting with a bunch of buddies fishing and the only thing you catch is a backlash, and an ear, and you have heard your buddies stories get more far fetched everytime, and then you have finially decided to go to another choice and drink it because you think that guy is driving you insane, but finally realize that you like those stories and go back to drinking lone star because if it wasn't for those days of doing those stupid things, there wouldn't be any stupid far fetched stories of catching backlash and an ear. I just had to put in my two cents, but the story of backlash and ear catching is real, but the good thing about this story is that I still fish with all of my good friends, they just give me a hook that is not as big, and the insane guy does not stand so close to me anymore when I'm casting. Last part was far fetched, haha Just a joke, post backpost back

I've been drinking LSL since it came out and before that I drank the regular Lone Star. You get all these people that knock it and yet they drink a different beer every time I see them. What's up with that..RJ

They like variety and enjoy experiencing different types of flavors in their beer?

I used to drink Lonestar because I was broke and when I was in high-school with tax it was 10.36 a 20 pack at Chacho's in Terrell and they would sell it to me. I don't drink a whole lot of beer anymore, I prefer whiskey and other strong-waters, but I prefer Shiner Bock for sport drinking and I like it on tap. In the bottle, I drink Spaten, Bavaria, Kronenbourg 1664, Stella, Heineken... a few others. In fact, I can't remember the last time I drank a beer at home. I prefer whiskey.

Never had a LSL, but Lone Star is a mighty fine beer ice cold on a hot summer day. I think it got lumped together with Pearl and PBR as cheap nasty beer just because it's always been inexpensive.

But it's really a good lager.

Shoot, I'm old enough to remember when Shiner Bock was THE cheapest beer. It was all we could afford to buy a couple of kegs of for parties... LOL Then the preppies "discovered" it and look at what it costs now....
