What are you using to keep your perch alive?
Also, are blues out of the river upstream of Lewisville subject to the slot limit for Lake Lewisville?

Call your local game warden to find out where they stop considering it part of the lake. I would suspect that it falls under the slot all the way to the Ray Roberts Dam being the fish can migrate from lewisville up to that point. Call your game warden to make sure.

Hi gfish,
For some reason, I decided to get on the forum & saw your post.
Seems what you need, are the YellowCat Days, so you know when they are on their feeding run. Let's see, looking at my catfish calendar (for Blues & Yellows only).
For June, YC days fall on: 5/6/17/23/24 For July, YC days fall on: 2/3/4/27/28/29/30/31
Normally they pretty well follow in a pattern of 7/2/7/2/7/3 & then repeat, but July & another month this year (I think it was August) seems to be a rare occurrence.
My catfish calendar works extremely well if you are running lines, as I noted these days are when they roam for food out of their "apartment".
Blues also hit good on YC days, but they (Blues) will tear you up on BC days.
For June, BC days are: 18/19/25/26 For July, BC days are: 7/8/15/16/22/23
Not sure what time of day or such you are going for it, but best times (nights) are when YC days are nearest New Moon compared to Full Moon. Also, the Gator Gars usually run (feed) just before the Yellows run.

I thought that might be the case but I had not called anyone to ask. Thanks for checking. I plan to fish this section of the river in the near future targeting bigger cats so I wanted to be sure.

Hi TGff,
You noted: ++++++++++++++++++ Welcome to TFF Catfish Lynn! Thx for the great info. Is this a calendar that you developed from your personal logs? ++++++++++++++++++
Thanks!
As to my catfish calendar, it is a combination or blend of several things. From 1979 to 1980, I was taught from 2 separate YellowCat Instructors. However, I still did not catch YellowCats, even with all of their knowledge I had acquired.
It was in the summer of 1981 that I worked for Western Company (Eddie Chiles oil well servicing company) in the cementing division. We had a scheduled days off & days on. It was 7 on, 2 off, 7 on, 2 off, 7 on, 3 off (Sat/Sun/Mon), and then repeat. Basically the norm 28 day cycle which is usually associated with lunar even though it is sometimes more akin to 29.5 days.
Anyway, all of a sudden, I started catching YCs, again & again consistently. I finally realized that I had somehow run into a pattern & decided in 1982 after leaving into another phase- mechanic at Brazos Valley Concrete. I ran across one calendar that had fishing days on them. Between what I had found & the calendar, I decided to try my hypothesis out to make sure on the Trinity River in 1983-1986.
In fact, I almost got pulled out of the boat in August '83 running a throwline by a huge Cat I never got to see. I nicknamed it "Big 'Un" & knew it was a big YC or BC, but I somehow knew (leaned towards) it to be a YC. I stayed after it for almost 2 years definitely baiting for it with perch on YC days. June '84 I got the closest as I had finally gone to a trotline hoping to catch it. While baiting up 12 huge African perch placed on that side just for "Big 'Un", we were on the other side about 2/3rds done, when she hit. Main line going up & down river qabout 15 feet. Water boiling up at 6 inches or more. I decided we had finally got her. We backed up & before we got there, the line went limp. Sadly she got off. But 9 of the 12 perch were gone already. And it was finally July '85 when it finally got caught on an 8/0 or 9/0 (as she bent out everything from 4/0 to 7/0 on that side) Eagle Claw SS hook. At first I thought it looked like a big Blue in the turmoil, until I realized it was a big Op. I had been correct all along.
The tale & adventure of "Big 'Un" went public when Jim Butler did a write-up (article) on it & me in '85 in The Eagle newspaper here in Bryan & College Station, Texas. Jim noted my meticulous logs I kept, but did not mention my calendar. Anyway, I knew exactly when to bait up during that two years' wait.
And yes, as I just noted, I did keep logs on many things which helped to hone in on the suspected (& confirmed) YellowCat feeding patterns. And then I also investigated & honed in on BlueCats as well. In the past few years, I have started sharing my knowledge of Yellows, and some on Blues, and the catfish calendar.
In the May 2008 issue of Central Texas Catfish magazine-newsletter, I shared on how the catfish calendar came about. Actually that is the condensed version, as it is a little more complicated & more detailed if I was to share the full story. I hope to one day in a book. That includes a couple of secrets (OK a few more than that), such as how to put a YC to sleep (one of my YC teachers shared & proved it to one group he was with in 1979 on Lake Livingston with a 30+ pounder).
Currently, I am sharing & teaching a few at Running Branch Marina on Lake Limestone at to the calendar & certain other things. Two of my students have excelled. They know the calendar works. Their 4th YC in the first 30 days, was an Op that tipped over 62#. One fellow ACATS member in Oklahoma has definitely tried the BC days up there and says, "IT WORKS!".
At Running Branch, most call me "Catfish". Some of the kids call me "Catfish Man" & usually their first words are something like what are the catfish doing or what does the calendar say. Even some of the Crappie fisherman that have camped out by me, ask as to what does the calendar say.
I & a few others are currently researching the Crappie angle as to the catfish calendar. I could catch way more than I currently do, if I had more time off from work or other projects, and if I was not constantly research. But then again, I would have to clean way more fish than I do currently. And I do not fillet mine. Everybody says I am unique in the way I cut the meat off. Takes a bit more time, but I can get a 50% yield of boneless meat compared to full weight when caught. The minimum is 40% if they have a lot of fat that I have to shave off. So if I catch 200 pounds worth, I get about 100 pounds of boneless meat. The only reason I know, is because a co-worker asked me once on how much I bagged per Ziploc normally & how much I got (net boneless yield), so I researched it & found out.
